I just got novice swordsman, and i was wondering what tree should i climb first and what abilities are better? i was thinking about spin attack 2, but some people say the area attack is nice too. Or should i just go up the technique side and get the speed? Thanks in advance

I personally ran up the defense line to III (Expert) for the melee damage mitigation 2, that way I have Spin2 and Sweep2, as well as some other nice defensive mods. Now im going to jump back over and hit up the speed line to 2, then probably the specials line to 2 or 3, finish speed line, finish specials line, then end it all with the last defense block
