I am currently Master swordsman and I am curious if the carbineer tree will give me a worthwhile char. Also going into tka mainly for defenses and mind mitigation. What do you recommend?

Carbineer is really only good if you have bh carbines. Other then the extra counterattack(only 15 points til the cap), you don't get too many defences. If you go into tka, i'm not sure what 'mind mitigation' is, but melee mitigation does not stack, once you get melee mitigation 3 at master swordsman, there is no point in getting more. In tka i highly recommend you get meditation 4(curing your own wounds is really fun).

well, this coming from a carbineer swordsman whatever (sig), and having played probably more Master swordsman combo templates than anyone else here, and having pvpd more than probably anyone else here, ill give u a legit answer. whew, run on sentence.

yes, it is an extremely lethal template. i havnt even mastered carbineer, lol, and it still does exactly what i want it to. im 2-4-2-2 in it, and for these reasons: wild shot (used to stun rifleman/fencers)and scatter shot (use just in case ppl get away from me), charge shot (kiters, anyone?), 110 carbine accuracy (129 with my skill tapes), and counterattack (its maxed out and even more effective, and i went up to the second box in that line so i could get more defense vs. intimidation).

the only thing that can stop an awesome counter-attacker is intimidate, so that extra 25 defense vs intimdate is awesome. ham costs are fairly high, but not a problem at all with medic. also i have 82 melee defense and 60 ranged.

basically, my rifleman bud with 186 accuracy (skill tapes) shoots at me from ideal range and hits me 1/5 of the time with cob on.

pvp: ranged kd, swordsman mind hits, ranged stun, ranged dizzy/blind.

takes a little getting used to but its friggin awesome. full auto sinlge 2 is awesome too.

Thank you man that is exactly what i was curious about. I knew carbineer had some good def. bonuses. But was not sure how far to go up tree before I maxed out anything. And yes I will be going for tka to heal mind and maybe for some extra def. bonuses also.

I am a rifleman/swordsman and they seem to really compliment each other. Both professions hit the mind pool which is a bonus. Swordsman and rifles do a whackload of damage which is great in PVE and PVP (Except when mitigation comes into effect). Swordsman and rifleman have great armour piercing ability which I am not sure if that makes a difference but I think its a good combo.
