Thread: Question about kraytes

agreed. i'm master brawler/sword/3444 fencer/0040 pike and though I don't need a rifleman/CM, they sure are handy backup for mind heals just in case (though music buffs and food you really shouldn't ever need it), and make the lizards fall faster. also increases your search capability and ability to outdamage others if they try to jump 'your' (read: i know theirs no ownership, but you still feel gipped) mob. finding one you trust is another matter

Im thinking about tommorrow and was looking to do osmething different so I was thinking about hunting Kraytes. I have never done so, so was wondering if you could give me any pointers. Im a master doc/swords and speed capped. If maybe you could tell me which kraytes drop the best loot, things to watch out for vs them, bring dizzy/intim/disease/poison/blind stims and so on. I appreciate all help. Thankyou.
Always use a power hammer, as with most creatures its your best weapon for this situation...
In the past there hasn't been much difference on loot from what krayt you got it from, but you now with the spawn increase have a better chanceto get a "quality" pearl from juvenile krayt(sp?) and premiums from the others (canyon, gaint canyon) haven't found an ancient yet so i'm not sure if you got a higer chance for a flawless one yet, not something you want to tank solo anyway lmao.
Juvenile and canyon krayts usually spawn together, gaint canyonspawn alone, and if ancients haven't changed, spawn alone aswell. Most the spawns will be near the area of the krayt graveyard (poi) but they do spawn all over tat quite enough for a small group or solo tank to take advantage off if your servers krayt graveyard is heavily camped by other groups.
juvy krayts have medium armor and 15% to blast and about 70k hamif i remember right, the others have heavy armor and 70%, 80% and 95% resists, and somewhere between 350k and 450k hami think as they get higher krayts. check out www.swgcreatures.com i think it is if you want more exact info
Obviously this makes juveniles alot easier, and as a solo tank type you are proberly best of going after juvy/canyon krayt spawns, itimidating the canyon and juvy, then quickly finish off he juvy, then return back to trying to kill the canyon till another juvy spawns at which point, make sure the canyon is itimidated and focus on the next juvy. I can usually get through 3 juvies respawns by the time i finish of the canyon, and by the time the 5th juvy from that spawn is dead, i've almost finished the 2nd canyon at which point the spawning tends to stop from what i remember from memory.
btw bleeds can be effective with the higher level krayts with having such high armor and resists, so try keep a bleed going when possible.
I am a defense stacker (master sword/fencer/brawler combo) with no medic, and find i can even tank gaint canyons without need for heals (with 80% kinetic light ham4 piece suits). but as you wont have the def vs states i do, make sure you have plently of dizzy and stun stims, and obviously good stim packs...also itimidate but i dont see any often applied tbh.
canyons and above use KD and the dizzy/stun/itimidate i beleive so obviously vital to keep dizzy off you at all times, and always have the krayt itimidated for dmg reduction.
As important info, if your ever having trouble with a krayt (canyon+) they use an area attack so you can just find the nearest creature nest and before long the krayt will have there attention and you can make a quick run for heal up or choosing a new target. i dont always find the use of warcry effective to stop your target and peace with krayts which is why i suggest this method.
