I've been heraing good things abotu Aukuans... as a Talus native, how often do they drop nice attachs, and what kinds?

IME, no, I am not sure why but i never got anything too good of em, a couple rings, thats it.

after i did some village work, i hopped on the shuttle for talus to do the aakuan cave. when i got there, i found that someone had just cleaned it out and got nothing. i asked him if he wanted to group to get some champion missions. we did and in less than a 30 minute period, i got over 10 AAs and a couple of CAs. only a few were worth selling, but i did get a rifle accuracy -5

The loot drop that most people are after is the +5 rangeddefense rings. You can wear two.

Yes, I know. I have seen however othe rpeople say they get +4 ish CA's/AA's often....

Best I've had is a +6 AA, Heavy Weap Speed tho 
I have had a couple of other weapon speed AA's too tho, 2hand, Carbine.. only +1's and 2's tho on those..

I've had all my best luck with SEAs from Aakuans. In the past month alone I've looted 2 +5 2h speed AAs, a +6 Dev vs Dissy, +6 Def vs Intimidate, +6 Rifle Speed, and a +4 Weapon Assembly CA. Now that the Aakuan Champ POI is on a 10minute respawn timer it's pretty easy as a swordsman to go there and camp it for a couple hours and find 10-20 SEAs all in the +2 - +6 Range.

I've never gotten anything relevant to swordsman, but I did get a nice +3 weapons exp CA for my alt.

yesterday i looted an armour assembly +3 and a pistol acc +6 AA
oh and my favorite .. a Counterattack -6

In a buff session you can probably get from 5 to 15 (roughly) CAs/AAs. The bonuses vary but the high, as mentioned, is +6 (I think only dropped by a champion). In a group you can pull Aa'kuan missions in the 8,700 to 9,200 cred range, with mission difficulties of 74, 99, 184, or 214 (highest I've gotten -- maybe you can go higher with a really uber group). 74 DL will probably have a Champion 50% of the time, 99 will have a Champion the majority of the time, and 184/214 pretty much always have a champion and several defenders/sentinals who can drop attachments (maybe up to +5?). You can also get Aa'kuan shirt, Aa'kuan belt (I think 10% poison/disease respectively, though I can't remember for sure) and an Aa'kuan cloak. I have not gotten a +5 ranged defense ring yet, although I have gotten a million golden bracelets, rings (no stats), datapad parts, and chem recycler schematics. Also the few odd rug parts/patches and cargo pockets. The nice thing about Aa'kuans is that they're strictly melee so you can kill them fast and using just ubese if you want. Probably could do it without buffs even if your hams were set up properly and you had decent armor.

I did them unbuffed/no armour for a while, TKM/Swords just using Powerboost and Stim B's, not using an especially nasty PH or anything, just timing heals right and stuff, lots of fun

They drop fairly reliable loot. One time I hit the caves before they changed the spawn rate, and I got a 6 pistol accuracy, a 5 rifle speed, and a 5 rifle accuracy while moving, which isnt too shabby.
