Scythe F.A.Q. by Bethrezen

Hi everyone, I'm writing this so there can be one definitive Scythe post. Please PM me if you want something added to the guide, also feel free to post and correct me if I am mistaken, or if you want to fill in more detail. I will update this post periodically. Feel free to copy and paste this around all you want, please keep my name in it if you copy the entire thing.

Q. What does a Scythe look like?
A. Scythe on examine. http://www.imagedump.com/index.cgi?pick=get&tp=44515
Scythe on my character. http://www.imagedump.com/index.cgi?pick=get&tp=44516

Q. Can I do this mission more than once?
A. The quest can only be done once. However, you can talk to NPC around the Mos Eisely cantina who will reset all of your Tattooine missions. If you do the quest, then talk to this NPC you will be able to repeat the quest. You may only reset your missions once.

Getting the Scythe Schematic

The NPC who gives a quest for the scythe schematic is located at 1390, 3197, at Mos Entha, Tattooine.

He will give you three quests. To be able to talk to him you should equip your most powerful weapon. If he tells you that you are too weak then you probably need to Master the profession for the weapon you're holding. If you're a master and he still says you're too weak there's not really much you can do about it from what I've seen, unless you want to change professions. I was able to obtain the quests with no problem wielding a Power Hammer as a Master Swordsman.

Quest One - Kill a target. Return.
Quest Two - Kill a target. Return.
Quest Three - Deliver an item. Return.

Your reward for Quest Three will be a treasure map. To find the waypoint to your quest right click on the treasure map and click "Read." Then click "Record Waypoint to Datapad." You will be given a waypoint right around the Krayt Dragon Graveyard, around 5600-6200 meters away. Don't worry about someone walking by and stealing your loot, because your quest hasn't actually spawned yet.

Now get your armor on and ride on out to the waypoint...

When you get to the waypoint click on your Treasure Map again. There will be an option to find the exact treasure location. Before you click this button be sure you are ready. When ready click it and you will search for the exact location of the treasure. Your waypoint will update and then at that new waypoint a Canyon Krayt Dragon will spawn, standing right on top of your Buried Treasure chest. Go ahead and kill him if you want, I did and got nothing from him.

A better strategy is probably to Warcry him, open chest and grab Scythe Schematic and just take off.

If you die while doing the quest the chest will despawn and you don't get your Scythe Schematic. Sorry.

Making the Scythe

Now you have a Scythe Schematic. It has TWO charges. That's all you get. 2 per customer. Bring it on over to your favorite Master Weaponsmith.

Components Required to make Scythe

Carbonite Steel (Shock Resistance)

Phrik Aluminum (Shock Resistance)
Two Identical Geonosian Sword Cores (I will be making a Geonosian F.A.Q. later, in which I will address cores in more detail.)

Methods for getting Geonosian Sword Cores:

Easiest Method - Loot the standard ones off of Geonosians in the cave. They have 25-25 damage.

Harder Method (Makes much better cores!) - Find a Geonosian Sword Core schematic from a Geonosian.

Components Required to make Geonosian Sword Cores

Neutronium Steel (Unit Toughness)
1 Power Core
1 optional Core Enhancing Agent

NOTE: Since you need two identical sword cores for a Scythe you will need THREE identical Power Cores due to one being taken to make the factory schematic (and enhancing agents should you choose to use them.)

And there you have it! Please, ask questions that I didn't answer.

Good Job, and thank you. I was wondering where exactly the cubes came into play.

If you wanted to make just 1 core you would need only 1 cube. But since you need 2 identical cores to make a Scythe I'm assuming you want to make 2 cores.

When you make identical cores that means they must be made by a factory. To be made by a factory you need to make a schematic first (which uses up the resources.)

So the 3 Power Cubes = 2 Identical Geonosian Power Cores because:

1 Cube used for schematic
2 used for the 2 actual cores
-------------------------------------
3 Cores used

What about Acklay bones? I know it can be used to make a Power Hammer. It takes place of the reinforcement core. But i'm also assuming that the Genosian Core is what is needed.

Acklay Bones = Reinforcement Cores
Scythes require Sword Cores.

sabacc1000said on the weaponsmith forum that you need to have the certification for the scythe to get the mission. Might be worth checking out:

To be swayed neither by your oppenent nor his sword is the essence of victory.
Conquer the self and you will conquer the opponent.

Ok...I got the schematic after much trouble. I got killed the first time by the Krayt and cloned in Mos Teike - rode my bike back to the treasure location only to get within 50 meters of the chest and have it POOF.

So, I figured it only stays in the world for about 10 minutes or so.

Reset the quests with the record keeper and went back for another go. This time when I dug up the chest I ran like crazy...got whacked by the Krayt yet again.

This time I cloned in Mos Krayt and came back...I walked right up to the chest and grabbed the loot.... the krayt quickly began chasing me but I got away! Woot!

Now I have the Scythe schematic but don't know what to do with it. LOL

Not correct. Did the quest today as a Master Tailor / Master Image Designer/ 0-1-4-3 Pistoleer. Wouldn't let me take the final mission until I equipped a pistol, so I'm guessing it's a CL thing. (Yeah, I know, I won't be able to use the thing—but it looks cool, and I want one…well, two. I want to give one to a friend as a gift…now I just need that core schematic and I can have them made—whee!)
