Thread: **Melee Weapon Enhancements: one hell of a disappointment**
As well as being a avid participater in the swordsman profession I also happen to have recently mastered weaponsmith and began selling melee weapons for profit and pleasure. And one thing I want to call to everyone's attention is how overwhelmingly bad melee weapon enhancements are:
First of all, the one enhancement that does make a small difference in stats would be the vibro motors droped by certain mobs. These enhancements do not improve stats to any useful degree (at least in comparison to the outragous amounts that ranged weapons can be improved with krayt tissues and all of the other types of enhancements that are avalible to ranged weapons). And the fact is, as most would agree, the swordsman profession has almost no use for vibro weapons, most people's weapons of choice are the powerhammer, two-handed sword, or cleaver.
Secondly, the only other melee enhancement avalible is the biggest disappointment of all: racour teeth. These "enhancements" replace the cores of swords (and can not be used in powerhammers or axes, only swords) and acctually make the stats of those weapons worse due to speed and HAM penalties with only small improvements in damage. The only possible exception to this is the rumors of some "Legendary" rancour teeth that are dropped occansionally. These may allow for some enhancement but are dropped so little that it probably makes no difference to mention them.
With these facts in mind, don't you think it is about time us melee professions got some useful enhancements on weapons? I am not exactly sure what this post will do, but I have also made a post in the weaponsmithing board to see people's views on that side of the fence.
Thanks for reading my ramble and hopefully this will inform enough people that this problem may be fixed.
I'm hoping that it will be somehwat resolved in the Weapons Balance that comes with the next publish.
Also.. there was a post up here recently about Gorax Bone Fragments that can apparantly be used in swords. Though no one could actually confirm it. I've been taking a ranger out to track one for me recently, but to no avail

I bought a crate of power ups for my sword, and it only lasted about 15 minutes! The benefit was none existant, and I saw nothing to warrent purchasing another crate. All it has done is decay my beautifull weapon faster than it already is going. Glad I got 3 swords, and 2 power hammers to use!
Powerups are not the same thing as weapon enhancements.
Weapons Enhancements are loot drops that can be crafted into a weapon by a Weaponsmith, and Powerups can be applied to a weapon after it has been crafted.
Powerups don't have a time limit either. They're limited to 100 "uses" (swings). If you Examine your weapon once the P.up is applied, you'll see its stats at the bottom.
I generally only use them for PvP, or to apply heavy bleeds in PvE.
