I say get sword techniques skill tree first. It is the tree that gives you +2h weapon speed. Also it has the headhit3 attack.

No need to bump, you've got your answer. Go up the Techniques line first. Speed is invaluable to a swordsman as it improves every one of our weapons significantly. You will go up the Finesse line (Combat XP) as you advance.

The real question is which line should you go up SECOND...

I'm going to have to go with the offense tree 2nd and the defense tree last. Once you get the speed...then it's time to take out those mobs with some area attacks. Lots of xp that way...defense tree will be a breeze. Plus, get yourself some good armor and buffs (or self buff if you are like me) and defense really doesn't matter a whole lot at that point, unless you are trying to kill really hard npcs

Well, I 'mgoing through my first run of the Swordsman profession, and am currently at0332. I went up to Defence III first, then did Techniques III, and now have enought XP for either Master Techniques or Offence I+II. Any thoughts? I havent tried out the AOE attacks yet, but I do use the spin attack all the time (which I guess is an AOE). Are they worth it? More important than the speed bonus at for the Master Techniques?

I tell ya I just struggled with this same question. I was 0-3-3-2 and i had enough XP for Tech4 or Defense 4 or offense 1 and 2. i decided to go with defense. My thinking was since im a Wookie and i am always looking at my HAM go down, this is a wise choice. I use Center of Being all the time. When I looked at what i got from Tech 4 and Defense 4, it just appeared that i would get more bang for my buck with Defense. Also, I didnt think there would be a big difference between Area Attack and Spin Attack. I believe they are the same thing, But i could be wrong.

My concern now is, it appears the Bleed I stick is now counting for next to nothing. I would get 1500 or more before, and now I cant stick anything for more than 300???? Ouch..
