yes you can, I was fully buff and drunk, had on 72% kinetic ubese, and I rock bunch of NS, but do not go after the Elder. Somehow she always kick my arse. I am gonna take up TKM and master brawler now, for +5 speed and intimidate 2, w/ the tanking ability of TKM, i'll go after her again

The term is "solo" and with 72% ubese, you'd better be able to take down an NS elder. Especially since you don't even need to be a novice medic to do it.

Really? Have you cap your speed? 'Cuz w/ my 468 damage/ 3.6 sec power hammer, she rocked my arse. Note, currently I have only swordman as combat prof. Do you have stack defense as well? like some fencers and TKA? Any help would be good.

No, I'm not capped. I do have master brawler though. So my speed is 80 instead of 75. My guess is that you aren't using intimidate. It takes about 60% of her dmg away.

Intimidation reduces damage dealt by half. I use a Damage sliced PH again NS. I also have master brawler and lunge2 (KD) is great.

Intimidation is key to high level creatures and NPCs.

Master Brawler with Master Swordsman, plus melee\range def tree from Fencer or TKA and you are GOLDEN! This template is also a gret foundation for PvP.

with 80% composite i'm currently tanking two elders at the same time (while my macro runs letting me read the forums).

Just make sure they are ALWAYS intimidated, and it's like fighting a chuba, only longer.

I've got some 90% comp that I wear to the DWB. I get the same sensation with SBD's. As a swordsman, my ham does move a bit when tanking SBD's still. I had a guy in my group that was tkm and never saw his ham move. The higher toughness must make the difference.
