So a friend recently bought the game and is on another serve so I'm going to make an alt. I'm planning to go MSword/MRifleman/Novice Medic and either Master Marksman or Master Brawler. Which of those two do you recommend?

Master Marksman gives a +5 that speed caps all specials for a rifle with speed 6 or less and gives a +10 accuracy bonus. This way I'll probably use rifle as primary and kite a bit and then move in for the kill with a hammer or sword when I enter melee range or for things resistant to rifle damage types.

Master Brawler gives a bit more speed but still doesn't cap swordsman but does give intimidate 2, lunge 2, warcry 2, and berserk 2. This way I'll start off with the rifle to soften them up and then move in for the kill with Swords plus have more damage types.

What do y'all think?

I would go with Master Brawler. RIfleman are strong but if the mob charges you your rifles become useless. Brawler gives you allot of things you need if you plan on doing allot of PvE

that plus 5 to 2h speed is more helpfull than plus 5 for rifles b/c they almost hit a 1 per sec anyways

master brawler hands down. ive had both templates and brawler is the way to go for one main reason. rifle speed tapes are everywhere and you only need +7 to cap with any rifle. 2 handed speed tapes however are few and far inbetween. they also cost a friggin fortune. plus master brawler gives you 2 handed lunge 2 which gives you the all important KD. Any intimidate 2 is TONS better than intimidate 1, and is essential when fighting big time mobs which by looking at your template im assuming you plan to do.

Yep master brawler is a MUCH better choice. That little extra speed only makes Swordsman even better, plus you get a few good def mods from it if I remember right. Dreamsta pretty much sumed up most of the other points.

My template is similar yet self sustaining. Master Rifles/Swords with 4/0/0/4 in TKA and 1/0/0/0 in scout.

Why? The meditate line means I dont need medic as well as powerboost and force of will. The X/X/X/4 in TKA give me some defense help but in all honesty its not needed. The 1/0/0/0 in scout lets me have a slight bonus in terrain negotiation and also lets me harvest stuff for guildmates while out hunting (gotta keep those docs happy)

Master Brawler is more uber if thats what you are looking for. I have been one for a long time, the KD and intimidate are key.

Master Brawler, by far. Extra + 2h Melee toughness, better COB duration, the all-precious 2h Melee speed and acc boosts (master rifleman dont need speed anyhoo, if your T21 is even half decent) and Intimidate 2.

I had MRifle/Sword/Brawler/Nov Medic and it worked for well. However, I gave up MBrawlr to get Medic 0040,k since I'd rather stand toe-to-toe with an Elder and spam Headshot 3. Kills the witch in about half the time it would take a speed-capped swordsman with a nice Acklay hammer.

I agree, Master Brawler is the way to go, the extra +5 speed really does help, and hanving a swordsman move that can actually KD an opponent is always a good thing.

Just a question: Why both rifle and sword?

Wow. So everyone agrees that brawler is the better way to go. I guess I can also get to the +5 in rifle speed with a series of +1 SEA's anyway.

Naga, Rifle and Sword because it gives me the widest array of damage types and tactics that all target the same pool and my main interest at this point is PvE. In my experience sword is the best PvE profession in the game with Rifle second best. And I have tons of options. Conceal shot or strafe AoE's to weaken and draw tons of agro and then spin attack 2 to kill off tons of mobs and then headhit3 plus headshot3 to take down bigger mobs.

Just sounds like a pretty fun and devastating PvE template that has decent defenses (not as good as a defense stacker) with full ranged and melee mitigation and the ability to wield almost every damage type in the game.

Really, why not?

Because i could see you only using one (sword or rifle) as your offensive profession.

You put a good case for it though, made me think twice

(oh yea, deffo brawler over marksmen )
