Hello all, Can a swordsmen be effective without any Medic skills?
I'm currently lookingat at two templates. The first is MTKA, M Swords, M, Brawler, 4-0-0-0 Fencer the 1-0-3-0 Scout.
I will try some PvP when necessary but mostly PvE. Need the scouting for meats for my Doc Char.
The 2nd. is M rifles, M Swords, M Brawler, 0-0-1-0 Scout.
Any advice or opinion isappreciated. Thank you
Otin

The second one would be a little better as far as most effective for taking stuff down since you can target mind pool with both professions. The first one you had would be effective in PvP and PvE. You would have the uber defs to take most anything without being damaged. Its pretty much up to you however.

My vote is for Template #2. Lethal in PVP and in PVE. Very good combo.

The second template is much better. There is no point in mastering two melee professions. You will most likely use just one for the duration of a fight. What would be the point of switching from a Scythe to a Vibro Knuckler in the middle of the fight. If you aren't planning on using the rifle to cause any damage, you may want to pick up carbineer instead to stack counterattack. Carbineer is worthless other than that for a master swordsman.

I did your #2 Template for a long time. The extra toughness from MBrwlr, coupled with the COB bonus means that even elders do very little damage, so long as you intimidate them. Only problem I had is that I like to poke around in places like the corvette and DWB, where Pharm IV is pretty much a neccesity, so I have changed my template to MRifle/MSword/Medic0040. I still have a bit of scout left over, as I got sick and tired of chasing elders up hill, but that's soon to go by the wayside, as I am going to grab Fencer 4000 for a bit more melee and ranged def. I had Fencer 4000 previously and was unstoppable, but like I said....terrain nego. Now, going back to the DWB with Scout hogging up skill pts, Im taking a pounding. So.....as long as you either A) stay out of the DWB or B) go in with a BIG group, Template #2 should be fine.

I don't have medic and I don't really miss it.
I can solo pretty much anything, giant canyon krayts, NS Elders, DJK/DJM and Superbattledroids.
So for PVE i'd say that you'd be fine without medic.

Medic skills aren't necessary, but let me point out something that'll make things really simple for ya. Scout and medic are both novice profs that require not xp to pick up. I used to bounce back and forth between novice scout and novice medic all the time. It only costs 100 credits.
Also, the xp for the next couple of skills is really low and you'll probably be carrying the xp needed all the time anyway. Basically you can freely go from medic 1000 to scout 0010 for 100 cr.
Also, if you can find some 2h melee spd attachments, I'd go with the rifle/sword template. Big game hunting for elders and krayts is awful nice when you can use master sword to make sure that you only pull one baddy at a time.

Medic skills are a must-have if you want to solo stuff cause you'll be tanking. There's absolutely no need to waste points on scout.
