Ok, I've been trying to find out what I need to gather to make a killer Power Hammer. Using a nice speed sliced scythe atm until I finish mastering Swordsman. 1.7 speed 194 - 327 scythe and I'm sailing through swordsman.
However, when I finally hit Master Swordsman (did master brawler for the extra +5 speed), I plan on switching to a power hammer instead. So far pretty much the only thing I've noticed of drastic importance is ackley bones. I know where to get those, just gonna need to get some friends together to go hunting.
Are ackley bones the only things I can, or need, to add to a power hammer to get a high max damage? Is there something I'm missing? I plan on taking my sweet old time with this, gathering the resources myself to make sure I have the best of the best to use. Any other information would be greatly appreciated. Wanna make sure this thing is top notch with all the effort I plan on putting into it (even if I have to master weaponsmith and get high tapes myself
)

Yes, Acklay Bones are the ONLY enhancment for the Power Hammer (Well, specific enhancement, you could fine Exceptional reinforced sword cores, dunno if they'll be as good as Acklay Bones tho).
The reinfoced sword core is the only item that goes into the power hammer, other than that it's just resources.

Well, that's good to know and almost sad to know. Kinda... anti-climatic.... Hehe, thanks for the info!

You have 3 options for an enhanced power hammer.
Option 1. Get a set of acklay bones. If their max damage mod isn't over 150 don't bother with them. Just try again.
Option 2. Crafted geonosian re-cores. You'll want to loot some yellow cubes and geo solidifying paste for these. The higher the damage on both the better.
Option 3. Looted geo re-cores. Most are crap. The ones with yellow text, you'll want to check out. You can get lucky and find some with really good speed mods. Haven't ever seen any with a good damage mod though.

Ok, seems like ackley bones make the best hammers, so that's what I'll be going for.
Dunno if I should be asking this next question on the weaponsmith boards or not, but here goes. Looking at swgcraft.com it says that shock resistance is the most important factor on resources to make a power hammer. So, if I were to get the highest SR resources I possibly can get, that'd be best right? Or should I look for a high overall quality too? Sorry, for all the stupid questions, but I'm still sort of a newb when it comes to crafting.

If you're going to craft the hammer yourself, just take a peek at the schematic and it will say what stats for resources are important. most things have 2 important stats (dont know much about weaponsmith). My guess is if Shock resistance is 1 of the important stats OQ is the other, but dont hold me to it, it will say specifically on the schematic in your datapad whats important by percent...it might be 50% OQ and 50% SR for it or something, meaning 1000 OQ 1000 SR is the aboslute best for that stat. usingresources with 1000 SR and 0 OQ would yield a bad hammer though,since your missing half the total number of stats possible. (ASSUMING that the stats for making power hammers is 50% SR and 50% OQ)

Well, on swgcraft it says 100% shock resistance, so I assume the rest of the stats don't matter.
Which is fine with me, will make it alot easier to find good resources to use.

how much speed reduction would be worth keeping on the looted re-cores?

The looted re-cores to keep for speed are going to be -.6 or faster. Typical crafted re-cores cap out on speed at about -.55(IIRC, haven't looked at my re-core schematic lately.) Unless the re-core is a craft day schematic and then it can be much faster than normal.
