Thread: Mustering willpower...
It is requiring ever sinlge drop of willpower and determination I can muster to not drop my Swords and pick up a blaster. Is anyone else finding themselves torn over what actualy WORKS and what you WANT to do?
I've long wanted to be a Master Swordsman and Master Teras Kasi. I finially master Teras Kasi, Swodsman's mastery is within arms reach...and suddenly this huge fix is sapping all of my motivation to carry on.
I find myself pushed between a rock and a hard place, and now that it comes to it, I wonder if I have the strength left to climb out, or if my strength will falter, forcing me to yeild.
I love SWG. Don't ask me why. Maybe becuase I have truly loved Star Wars since its inception, maybe becuase I was raised on it, maybey becuase I can identify with the characters...I don't know why. What I do know is that I shalln't abandon it for WoW or DAoC, I'll stick to it thick and thin...but is playing a melee class truly doomed to failure? Was this ride over for me before it began?
I just don't know anymore. I had a clear vision for my character once, had direction. Now all I have are memories and a sour taste in my mouth, coupled witha sobering realization that this is the way we will be treated as long as we play. Do I keep my chin up and endure...or hang my head and pick up a blaster...?
What would you do? What do you guys plan to do?
Yes, ok, I'm the idiot....who only knows how to use one skill, berserk, and then when it gets changed I whine and pout like a little schoolgirl.
oh wait...that was you.
walk away.
The change to berserk does suck for solo swordsman.
As a full time grouper, though, I can honostly say that I don't miss it or even notice the change. I never used berserk anymore once I started travelling full time with medics or doctors. With them around I can spam intimidation til it lands, do warcrys all I want and not worry about the action or health costs. I don't activate berserk because doing so prevents me from doing other special moves.
Maybe it doesn't bother me as much because I come from old school EQ. In old school EQ, meleers were 100% worthless without a healer. SWG improves on that (and you can be your own healer), but you're still a lot better off with a medic following you around.
So my suggestion is if you like being a melee, join a guild, get some regular groups and you'll have plenty of fun with a medic to back you up.
This is more true now that creature handlers are thankfully nerfed and can't have 3 rancors (or worse) running around supertanking everything.
