Thread: Sweep vs Pistol Whip (Why do pistoleers get a more powerful melee attack than a melee class?)
No big difference with the patch for pistoleers. I can still solo 3 bazes at once even with the Mind cost added in. Yes it does need a good fix on that attack delay thing...
I posted a thread about this in the general section, but I wanted to re-iterate it here, and hopefully get our correspondent to pass word along.
Last night, a Pistoleer in my guild, and myself (Halfway to Master Swordsman) were dueling. We do this often, but last night, we were testing the "new" PvP system.
As soon as I got into melee range, I got pistol whipped, and every time I stood back up, got pistol whipped again, immediately. I found this strange because my attack speed is insane (2.0 attack speed sword, and I have maxxed out the finesse tree)
We started running some tests, I would knock him down using my sweep attack, and he would pop right back up after a second or so, and his attacks would resume. He would pistol whip me, I would go down for a few seconds, get back up, and simply stand there for the rest of combat.
We did this several times. Apparently, pistol whip causes a 10-15 second delay to the person getting hit, whether they stand up or not. Since we stand right back up, they can pistol whip us while we're defenseless for the duration of combat. IMHO, this makes ANY melee profession useless compared to the pistoleers.
I'm hoping that the devs will respond with, "this is a bug." It seems idiotic (at best) for a ranged class to have a FAR more powerful melee attack than the best melee classes. That, coupled with the ranged class's amazing ability to fire over their shoulders while burst running makes melee classes all but useless.
They can knockdown JUST FINE. Anyone complaining about it is an IDIOT. They can EASILY execute 8 pistol whip attacks during a combat. Given that after being pistol whipped, you cannot attack for 10-15 seconds, that gives them 80-120 seconds worth of FREE ATTACKS. That is either a bug, or a MASSIVE brain fart on the part of the developers.
