what weapon do swordsman start with then they are jst a n00b in the brawling tree?

You can gain 2handed XP by using the heavy axe when starting.

I'm sure the bazaar should be full of them or if you want one with better stats you might want to ask a weaponsmith or check out a weaponsmith's vendor. As far as i remember i think even Master Artisans can craft them.

I used a Heavy Axe for a long time. Mainly because it took so long for a Sword to even show up. It worked very well I and I think I used it up until Novice Swordsman when finally a Two Handed sword showed up.

I think you get heavy axe at engineering 2 or 3... maybe even engineering 1.. i can't remember. It's easy to make though you will want one ~145 max dmg.
