Thread: Two-handed lunge two?

I was reading about the skills/bonuses/perks/cookies gained at master brawler, when I noticed that two-handed lunge two is a knockdown. So I was wondering if any swordsman could give me some input on whether or not it's worth crawling up to master brawler for a two-handed sword knockdown. What are the average HAM costs like?

I'm a Master Brawler, working through at least one line in each Elite melee weapon profession (crazy, huh).

The Lunge2s are powerful with 15m range and Knockdown 7 out of 8 times (or so), however the HAM costs are considerably steep. If you've used Lunge1, it's pretty much the same as that. Also, it depends on your weapon. If you have a weapon with high HAM costs.. it's going to be quite hefty. I use a Vibroblade with 1hlunge2 and the cost is still considerable. Unarmed lunge is the best, without a vibroknuckler (no need, since the lunge will do next to no damage; it's main purpose is the knockdown).

I easily kill yellows with solely with Lunge2; however you WILL want to find as low HAM cost as you can as far as a weapon goes, else you'll kill yourself.

I get about 1200 XP from Giant Dalyrakes right now with my Vibroblade, and it takes 100 to 200 action, and half that mind, per critter (also takes a bit of health but i'm a Trandoshan so it's always fully healed unless I miss several attempts in a row and I get hit, heh).

So I could kill 5 in a row before I really had to rest. And they con yellow. Stormtroopers are easy, though annoying if they kite you.

Again, the HAM costs are considerably high, so use the lowest HAM weapon you can when you chain lunge. Personally, with Two-Handed, I would use Intimidate2 over Lunge2, because my sword is badass (45-203dmg, 2.3spd), but it has gigantic HAM costs.. It takes like 1/4th of my action/mind per lunge2, so I switch to my Vibroblade and do it with that, then back to sword.

Kiteing is a tactic used to prevent being in melee range while still dealing damage to your target.

Any npc with ranged weapons can do this to you, ie run away while still fireing at you.

Regarding topic though I find the lunge2 fairly useless. It costs far to much ham (200ish action) and doesn't work very well.

See above about kiting, and CorSec / rogue CorSec are really really bad about it.

About the HAM costs, though, with my vibroblade (for instance, since it has insanely low costs), it's around 18/27/18. HAM costs with Lunge2 are 102 total combined; so around 25 health/44 action /25 mind, there abouts.

You really just need to find as low HAM costs as you can if you want to use lunge2, or bring a vibroblade along (since you WILL have it because Lunge2 is Master Brawler heh), and switch to it to use Lunge2 then back to your sword for regular attacks.

For instance, I've gotten over 100,000 XP in the last two days, and I've not played that much.

My battle fatigue is 33... wounds are 29 health, rest are below 10. I've not visited the cantina, camp, or med center in several days. Lunge2 is well worth it... with a low HAM cost weapon.
