Thread: Defense, WHAT defense?

Well, after taking the time to look at my skills and mods, I just realized over the weekend that I think I have the two worst defensive professions in the game. As botha Master Swordsman and Master Pikeman, I still would not have as much ranged and melee defense as 1 Fencer or 1 TKM.....so after getting OWNED in PvP on Saturday, and wasting my time for 2-3 hours, I am extremely disappointed to say the least.....


The way I see the melee profs are as follows.....let me know if anyone agrees/disagrees....


Swordsman - Heavy hitter, best in PVE, blast damage on PH is great, but range mods bite, if they got to 0 or anything positive, would be the best weapon on the game. Little to no defense. Not good in PVP since everyone and their mom in PVP has 80% kinetic and swords are the only thing you can hit someone with, but can take down any creature very fast.


Pikeman - besides being pretty much useless in PVP, it doesn't hit for much. However, I can put dizzy, stun, knockdown, initimidate, etc on any creature. I actually do have some fun with it PVE....makes it challenging....but doesn't hit for much....however would probably be decent in abig group taking down multiple creatures (good area attacks with spin, sweep, area attack, stun, etc). Also bad in PVP, doesn't hit for much and has poor defense. Range mods on weapons bite....


Fencer - From what I see, has crazy defenses. The true TANK of all melee profs....


TKM - Best in PVP, and most other things......heck, I think TKMs are trying to say it s&**s now, so that they won't get nerfed....

Well i have been master swordman for about 3 months now and would not change it. tho i do have a few problems with it and since they kinda the same problems as above i will post my problems.


the role of a two handed swordman is pure damage, using 2 hands will ofc limit our defences but greatly increase damage why else would we be using 2 hands. I personally rarly PVP because i dont think swordman is that good at it. If i do PVP it is against mates. Now i fully expect to lose to a ranged player if they keep running away from me, if however i get close i feel that i should beable to destory them very quickly.this how ever is not the case i miss a far to much,only attack i can really use is mind hit 3 as its the only specail that does direct damage to one pool unlike all our others that canhit 1 of many and even when i do hit i seem to do bad damage due to their armor.


As stated above i feel that swordman should out damage most classes in the game, being melee i feel we should hit alot moreif we are close to are target. Seriously if i swing a hammer at someone they are not going to have much time or chance to get out to way. If i go up a ranged player and i get a hit on them, i execpt them to get badly hurt, instead i do little damage and they keep running.


Dont get me wrong i love swordman and will always stay (i think) the above problems do not affect me that much however i would like some more specails and maybe a defence or damage increase.

I have to say i have seen a whole lot of talk about us suckin ing PvP. i jsut don't get it, so we can't ignore masive amoutns of damage, but at master 110 counter attack is nuthing to scoff at. the shear amount of damage we can lay out even after a 75% reduction fo pvp and then all the uber compy armor is still considerable. so our ranged modes suck, of course they suck we use large powerful weapons, accuracy is the natural victim of massive power. an the last i check there was no I in starwars. find a place ina group and own it. its allot more fun.

IM master swordsman master bralwer i've owned many TKM and master fencers and master rifleman any profession u name it its all about how u use your profession even with only +27 melee defense.

IM TKM and we have no defence either +5 dizzy lol fencer has the best defence of all melee professions i get kited by fencer every time we dual they also got dodge

Do you know what "kited" means? I don't think a melee class is kiting another melee class. Also, TK is low on state defenses and nothing else, it has the highest toughness and 2nd highest melee/ 3rd highest ranged defense of any class in the game.

I believe the professions with the lowest defenses should have the highest damage output, that's just fair gameplay. BUT with melee mitigation in pvp, there goes our advantage! Our high end hits go away, and were left with average damage, slow and innacurate attacks. That's the only thing I'd like to see changed in pvp.
