Thread: So I just got hit by a flamethrower for 3000 damage
After the posture change BS, the only worthwhile thing we can do is mindhit, which is very tricky to hit with. Man, I lose more and more faith in this game every day, I'm thinking of surrendering all my skills and becoming a Doctor/Pistoleer.
We don't have it so bad.
Ok, so how many skill points do commandos use to get to master commando? near 200? We use more like 100?
Commandos deserve to be able to do that kind of damage. They are using huge guns, and its taken them longer to get to where they are than it has taken us. We don't have it so bad, I duelled a commando friend andincapped him in 2 hits (poor fella didn't move). I've hit for 15k damage before.
I say good for them, they finally have had their patch.
i dueled a swordsman as a commando...heres' the result
flame1 missed....
hit by scalp 300 hit
hit by scapl 200 hit
hit by scal 400 hit
hit by scalp 450 hit
incap....
tell me agian how commando's are overpowered?
sure we hit big...provided we don't missed...if we missed...see above because for us to use our special we have to within 15m...which so happens is your range!!!
the thing is a commando can move and shoot... if you shoot when we get in range and then move AT ALL we will miss about 80% of the time due to a latency bug... mind you thats not your fault just a fact of death for all melees... so in reality you do a 1 shot kill/miss run a little MABEE get hit 1 time... and if the melee went master brawler mabee a kd and 2 hits... but thats about it then you get the second shot off... now, if you miss 2 times i aint saying youl get a third...
I am rather split on the commando dammage to be honest... personally i wish that forsmaller (people sized) tgts it would do say 1/2 dmg or get a heinous to hit penaly or something else...
In my opinion the following would kind of make sense:
A HUGE (like -80 to hit) with all the long range heavy weapons against small tgts ie man size or smaller but give it a +50 or more vrs any large size target: in realty if you have ever tried to tgt a guy running, standing still, what have you with an AT4 or a lAW or any other anti tank weapon... you will note you will almost NEVER hit him... the missile is made to be accurate twords armour and vehicles.(or in many case like the LAW which is known to decide to fly off on its own when fired.. folk have missed from 50m with this thing due to its chronic inacuracy) I have shot at tanks btw with an AT 4 in the real world these are hard to fire even at these large tgts ( in the desert folk missed often enough just from the adrenaline... its amazeing what a tank comeing at you does to you...) , in a pristine training environment MANY people cant hit jack with these... out of 20 people who fired these on the range when they first came out only 3 made expert... and of the three of us who made expert and were allowed to fire on a honest to god real french tank (gotta love dem french)... only 2 actually hit it) .In the end, durnis are NOT a good tgt for a missile... however a rancor or an at-st would be a PERFECT tgt for any of these...
For the Flame Thrower: leave it as is but make folk wearing them take 2x or 3x dammage from melee attacks... the flame thrower is a very bulky weapon and leaves its wearer in a very poor position to defend himself... but hey if the thing hits you you should be a flameing wreck running around screaming like a girl for the 5 seconds until you die
Grenades: well this is a tricky one... they do dmg in an area and if your in the area well... you gunna be a toasty... but, they should not be useable within 10 meters...or they should just be able to do dammage vrs everyone friend and foe alike... if you want to use a grenade as a close combat weapon fine ... just dont expect to blow one on a guy with a knife at close range with impunity...
Personnaly the weapon that is real bad is the bh lighting cannon which appears to be a long range very high dammage weapon... this thing wont run out of ammunition and appears to have very high bh to hit bonuses... so i doubt we will see many bhs switching professions... just weapons...
I think the new commando patches are a good thing. I like the idea of going into battle against imperial atst's with a commando at my side. They're welcome anytime in my books. Also, they may be tough at one shot kills... But, their accuracy sucks. I dueled a commando and he did manage to hit me with a flamethrower the first time around, but I did get in a couple hits and almost incapped him. He was incapped anyways from the mindshot I gave him and after we both got up and his mind bleed went away I asked him to DB me so I could get rid of the flame on my head. We dueled again and I stood just out of range so I wouldn't hit him and it took him 4 or 5 shots to hit me. Even then, further away, he didn't do near the amount of damage that he did initially. So in all aspects, no. I don't think the commando's are overpowered. We have accuracy and speed while they have overall damage. (Sorry if I'm a little long winded)

Totally disagree with this logic. I don't know why people keep saying this.
In the end, we all spend 250 skill points. Why should I be a gimp in PvP as a Pistoleer/Swordsman/Medic? It takes a long time to work up all those skills, and they're all combat oriented, so why aren't I hitting for 2000 damage from 20m away? Why is it that a Commando's 250 points spent are so much better than everyone else's 250 points spent?
Your argument would hold water if we could be a Master Swordsman and take all those extra points and put them into something so that we can match Commandos in usefulness. But we can't.
hmm I think all professions have their good things and their bad things...
Why a commando misses ? Because if the commando dont miss any shot, a swordman will never kill a commando.
Why a Swordsman has to run to get someone ? Because he dont misses.
I think programers know whatthey aredoing, they have to create an equilibrium.
Then...the commandos will be always saying . arghhh! why im always mising and this swordsman came here and incap me in 4 hits ?... And if the commando dont misses his shot, the swordsman will say bla bla bla...
I hope i will be a great Swordsman, and i will accept my deficiences as a swordsman. But i think that this profession needs a patch. 8)
