i just wanted ppl to post their combonations here and tell ppl how they worked and mayb a little bit of stratedgy. this really goes for all melee, but as a swordsman of course ill post here. personally i went carbineer. i would usually get enhancements from doctors before headin out to hunt imps, but in random encounters it worked well too. i charge my opponent starting off with knockdown, and since im already charging them i would be on top of them in about 2 or 3 seconds, whip out my power hammer, mind bleed, switch to curved sword, head hit till they started to "slide" and get up, then lunge, and get as many head hits in as i could. there were several occasions were i only got to hit the person twice with head hit before they got up, and my lunge would miss, but i just let them chase till they figured out they had a mind bleed and turned around and started to flee, so i would start chasin them and once they went incapp i laid down the kd.

it worked very well and i won over 3/4 of the time. i think this would work against a commandoe and i know it works against bh's, since ive killed plenty of em.

so, any1 else got a wicked combo they wanna share. i hope this post helps some ppl out when it comes to pvp

usually rifle is best accompanied to heavy swordsman because they both focus on mind damage. That way if he runs from you then just stop and whip out your rifle and finish off. Plus the bleeds stack.

I was the boring swordsman/doctor until I realized everyone had that going. I'm now going to try commando/heavy swordsman and if not that then tka/heavyswordsman. I figure the TKA knockdowns and state changes then switch to power hammer should be pretty effective.

The complete melee master-like type would have to be a mix of all the trees, with master swords, the main two defensive trees in TKA, and the defense tree in fencer and pole arm. You dont get the attacks of all the others, but you become the best thing to fight in melee. I'll run the numbers and see what comes out.

I am still low level (working on both noviceswordsman and rifleman), so I can't give an "experienced" comment, but I am working on a very interesting swordsman/rifleman combo. All attacks hitting mind pool, at melee range, and long range, both ways to deal (stackable) mind DoT's. On paper it is awesome, and my early newbish experiences are very positive : impressive in PvE, and I did, at my low level, surprisingly well in a RvR battle I took part in.

I haven't fought a lot in PVP but for PVE I feel that the combination I am using really cant be beat.

Master Swordsman, Master Creature Handler, Novice Rifleman, Novice Medic

I solo on any planet against nearly any level of mob fairly easy.

I can make 32K in cash every 25 minutes on Lok killing Mercenaries and Canyon Corsairs.

The formula I use is pretty simple:

1) Hit first Mob with mind bleed with the rifle.

2) Sick pets (usually 2 graul maulers) on the mob you just hit and spam peace to lose aggro.

3) Hit next mob with rifle mind bleed.

4) Change pets target to the new mob and spam peace to lose aggro.

5.) Repeat this until all mobs are bleeding from the rifle and the pets have the mobs aggro.

6) Rush into the close quarter battle that should now be ensuing with the 2H curved sword (or PH if I am buffed by a medic) and mind hit 1 and mind hit 2 each mob, being carefull not to get closer than your pets.

7.) Now you have everything bleeding at a HUGE rate. Start using head hit 3 to finish off each mob starting with the mob that is closest to dieing from the mind bleeds.

This works like a charm every time. It is important to retain novice medic skill ( i think i have pharm 1 skill as well) so that you can use advanced stim b's to heal yourself up when needed in the middle of a battle or to heal your pets up a bit after the battle.

Having high enough mind stats has also saved my bacon a number of times from mind attacks, as well as allowing me to heal myself during combat.

If I team up with a combat medic/doctor, it is almost pathetically easy to cut through ANY mob or mob lair short of a Krayt dragon in no time.

Until such a time as melee characters get the needed fixes to allow us to tank, and not our pets, being a Master Creature Handler is almost a requirement IMHO.

Anyhoo, that's my $.02.

Cheers

good input ppl.

i used to be a creature handler/ swordsman/ rifleman and just a swordsman /rifleman but i still thinkthat i will never b able to give up my ranged knock down, and then absolutely tear them apart with my ph and 2h curved.

when i went rifleman/ swordsman i wanted to use both in junction, but this almost never worked, since most ppl would nver get close to me, even when i was usin a rifle, and even when my title was novice rifleman.

so i ended up just usin my rifle in pvp, which is not what i wanted.

im lookin for good professions to use in CONJUNCTION in pvp, so both professions have there part

this isnt ur fault, i was just unclear. o and i despised bein a ch, so i dropped it, just wasnt for me i guess.

I've only PVP'd a couple of times and my experience I believe is the same as you have found.

I havent even got the chance to use my Swordsman abilities...

Until such a time as some of the issues (which are already well documented) with melee vs ranged characters are fixed, the swordsman skillset (and any melee skillset for that matter) is useless in PVP.

It remains, however, one of the best PVE professions in the game. (When combined with skillsets that compliment it as I mentioned previously.)

Now, if I could just catch that **edit** pistoleer to give him a good mind whack or two, things would be a hell of a lot different now wouldnt they....

cheers
