I just started myself, just got my Novice swordsman last night!Anyway I'mfinding a little medic is always good to have. You're in the front lines and staying up is important. Note though have good heavy armor will suck your mind down like there is no tommorwo so balance them.

I'm also a former CH, so having a pet to tank with or disrct the target is also nice.

Yeah, usually you will find with most professions, medic is always a good compliment.

As far as advancing, I would agree that CH is another good compliement, but you may want to consider what you want to get out of the profession in the long term. Grouping with someone with a pet / pets is also a good xp mine since the pets tank and keep the mobs held still so if you attack (and most attacks wont be focused on you) and if you get into trouble, you can walk away and come back when your healed.

Personally, I found buffs an excellent compliment to help with gaining xp, a good buff will mean that you last 10x longer in combat than you normally would, just have to watch your mind bar

Ive recently reached Novice Heavy Swordsman myself, and the jump from 2H4 to Novice Swordsman makes a HUGE difference

Oh absolutely Buffs are great, I rarely leave home without being buffed to be honest. It's going to become paramount soon when I loose all my CH skills completely. The MAJOR problem I have of course is mind bar verses my ability to heal in battle. Still working on the best Armor combo for that.

This should give you some motivation.

The other night I was fighting Krayts (Canyon and Juvenile Canyon) w/ a group ... I wasn't taking much damage (using Center of Being)...and my stat bars looked like I just walked out of the med center. Granted there were 3 atsts in the group but people were getting incapped and killed left and right... I only got incapped one time and that was because I didn't notice my COB had worn off...lol didn't die once.

People were asking me what kind of armor I had on... well, I'm a wookiee so I can't wear armor.

Also, I got a Krayt Pearl out of the deal...sold it for 300k.

Good luck on the road! It is fun! Master Brawler will definately help you on that road....so don't skip that.

I started swordsman less than a week ago... and

im 2-1-2-3. Which is nice.. im almost 2-2-2-3. Its pretty easy when you find a healer friend, grab some buffs, some muon and go into a middle of 3-4k exp givers, AE, AE, AE, and /wave goodbye

You can master swordsman in a few days if you're pretty hardcore, but im taking it easy despite it being my holo proffession. Not to mention I really like it anyway

Question as I've just started as well on Heavy Swordsman. Is there any specific line of the tree I should concentrate on when I'm moving up to maximize my xp gain? OrshouldI just move up across the board?

Same here probably not as much as youas I didn't hold onto pistoleer all that long, but I figured speed and accuracy then get the rest. Good to know I'm not on crack

Thanks!

Jebus, this profession is FUN! Its my first melee prof (holo induced) and after I master it rest assured I'm going to DUMP CH in the TOILET! I just hit novice swords last night and there happened to be a vynock lair nearby so I went to test it out...

I beat the heck out of all of the spawns and then destroyed the lair, I quickly found myself surrounded by 2 vynock guardians and 3 juveniles. I hit my 2 hand spin and killed ALL FIVE of them with ONE HIT. I just about crapped myself.

All I can say is...master brawler master brawler master brawler. After being a master swordsman/doctor for an eternity, I dropped doctor, and now have master brawler. I can't believe what I was missing out on all that time.

Just get doctor/musician buffs, and you can practically PvE non-stop with no down time. You warcry 2, then lunge 2, and the enemy is stuck on the ground for 20 seconds. Also, you can get bio-engineered clothing with lots of +warcry/intimidate. Screw CH....CH is weak.

I'd also recommend getting at least the meditation line in TKA.
