Thread: Making a pure combat guy... wondering which template is better
oops sorry, accidently hit enter key
anyway, here are my two templates i was thinking about using
Master Brawler
MAster Swordsman
4-4-0-0 Fencer
4-0-0-4 TKA
3-0-0-0 Scout
1-0-0-0 Medic
Or
Master Brawler
Master Swordsman
4-0-0-0 Marksman
Master Rifleman
3-0-0-0 Fencer
Both have their advantages, the first can meditate, and gets all of scouts terrain negotitation (yeah, thats a typo right there
plus has huge defense mods
The second can stack mind bleeds (which can not be underestimated) has ranged attack
and isnt to shabby in the melee department
I really like both of em, so my question is, which would be more viable for
A- PvP, one on one
B- Large scale battles
C-PvE or PvM
and D-Just more fun
I guess im a little partial to the first, as it gets terrain negotiation, but i'd like to see what everyone thinks (BTW, give me some feedback if you think i can improve this)
hmm what are the states for both of these. like defences and melee/randge defences.
cuz i have found out that randge and melee defences have caped at like 125 or so i believe. so the like 250 melee/randge defence creating a player unhit able is gone and i believe they made it that dodge/block/counter doesn't stack any more this was a stealth nerf today.or so
and btw if you would do anything i would go 4404 in rifle only this is kick ass in pvp and then i would go get the meditation tree in tka. meditation is like my best friend.
hahah wait i just explained my template opps heheh. except i don't have fencer but all you need from tka is like 2000 and you will be kick ass. i'm 4002 in tka and master brawler/ master sword and rifle 4004 and scout 1000 and i love it but i am giving up scout soon for 4404 in rifle
Just FYI, FOTM formats don't stop bleeds.
I dueled a TKM/Fencer/MBrawler FOTM, and he dodged/blocked/counterattacked every attack of mine, but my bleeds incapped him.
Strange game huh?
Go with what's most fun for you tho -- lot of templates, I'm a Master Doc 3/4/4/3 Swords...cure my own state effects, buff myself a lot...it's just what you like. ![]()
id try
Master Heavy Swordsman
Master Brawler
4440 Fencer
0004 TKA
0000 Medic
3000 Scout
not sure if this goes over the points but youll have a ton of melee/ranged defense and defense against state effects.
that second template for anything pvp, first one for pve but youll still be very effective in pvp.
i understand what u mean for terrain negotiation, but u can get bio e clothes with it.
im gonna surrender scout and go rifleman 0-3-0-0 so i can have ranged mitigation 2, but im still not sure... i allready have very very good ranged and melee defense, and dont get hit much, but to only take a riflemans head shot 3 for 50 damage, that would be awesome. plus im often the center of interest in a pvp battle, so i have a lot of fire focused on me, and it would be nice to only take 40-50% percent of the dmg, after defense and toughness and all.
Master Rifleman is not worth it. When you can get both bleeds and head shot 3 by going 2/0/0/0 and then add in the ranged mitigation tree (that also has accuracty) if you want that, master is not worth the points. Trick is, almost all ultimate templates are up in the air until the next patch comes out. Word is major stuff is gonna get changed and no one knows exactly what.
For pure offense, stacked mind bleeds and mind attacks are the most powerful. Mind is usually the smallest pool, hardest to buff and hardest to heal. For pure defense, fencers seem to have the edge, for pure volume damage dealing, commandos/bounty hunters rule. Carbineers get the ranged, never ending knockdown, smugglers have some nice special shots, TK with the knockdown/dizzy combo is impressive.
All I can say as master HS with some extra defense, I have never lost a toe to toe fight with a TKM or master fencerwhen I was wearing armor and buffed. No buffs, no armor, too much of a crap shoot, who lands what first. With armor and buffs, no one can handle mind bleeds except maybe combat medics, who throw nasty mind poison and can heal their own minds.
If a ranged guy can play hit and run, you're in trouble no matter what, so having the rifle mind bleeds is key. If they have to come close, swordsman to finish it off.
Im stuck right now having spent the points on TK master as well and fencer defense. But I think Im gonna let go of master TK and do rifleman 2/4/0/0. I love the high speed wound healing and longer lasting powerboost but don't think its worth it over all. Not for as many times as I get kited by BH's and Commandos and I have to either hide and wait for them to come to me or run after them.
Dog - master heavy swordsman, master TK, on my way to fencer 4/4/0/0
i think you kinda have to consider what your template will be for.
if you're designing it for PvP, the dabbling for defense mods and various attack or defensive specials might be the way to go.
but if you're actually looking to build a character, i'd say pick two solid professions and master them. stack ranged and melee mitigation if you want. but a melee/ranged combo that compliment each other. or a melee/doctor combo is pretty solid as well.
problem with dabble templates is that on any given day a patch may make your character the biggest waste of time. and all your inflated delussional ego will evaporate with your gimicky template.
i think over time the professions will evolve to a hodgepodge mentaility specifically designed to eliminate the prime benefit of dabbling. as it stands you can dabble up one tree. and gain one set of skills. i think later, higher order skills or mods won't be accessed untill you achieve multiple skill rankings. thus doubling cost, or eliminating the usefulness of dabbling altogether.
if you want melee though. ...go master brawler, for the master level warcry or whatever. and pick one of the 4 elite classes. and focus on healing after that.
or if you want more of a spread, don't master brawler and combo 2 elite classes. but i think over the long run. mastering a profession is going to be the only safe bet.
Vas
Hey there, I WAS planning on going just swordsman doctor, but I revised my plan to be something more like this:
Master Swordsman, Master Brawler, TKA 0/3/0/4, Fencer 4/4/4/0, and Medic 4/0/0/0
This leaves you with 1 skill point, and defensive stats that look like this...
Defense vs Dizzy +45
Defense vs Knockdown +85
Defense vs Stun +45
Melee Defense +76
Defense vs Blind +40
Defense vs Intimidate
Defense vs Posture Change +80
Ranged Defense +69
I thought this looked pretty nasty, so this is what I am gonna start working towards.
Actually Ximma, with that template, your D's are much more forboding
Defense vs Dizzy +65
Defense vs Knockdown +95
Defense vs Stun +65
Melee Defense +156
Defense vs Blind +60
Defense vs Intimidate +40
Defense vs Posture Change +90
Ranged Defense 134
I arrived to these numbers using 'kodoans SWG prof calculator, just picked it up from bloodfin.org last week. (I assume it's accurate, it is a fairly new program)
Really? that high? I was using a genarator from http://swgcb.yogn.net/index.php, and was under the impression it was up to date.
/shrug. Either way, you get crazy good defense ![]()
