A friend and I recently convinced another friend of ours to play SWG with us. We decided we would all three start new characters on Starsider and go from there. After I had my friend (The one new to SWG)look over what the different professions were, he said he wanted to be an MSwordsman/Mrifle. He didn't even know they were all that compatible until I told him their specials all hit the mind pool. Beyond that, how well do they really work together? I, myself, will be going MSwordsman/MDoctor, and my other friend will be an MRanger, with the rest of her skill points undecided. Our goal is to take on high end PVE,(Anything, from GDKto DWB to NS Elders)I am the only one even remotely interested in PVP and even that is only a little. We'll pretty much only going to play together, except for me logging in for an hour here or there to grind out the Doc crafting tree, hehe, finished medic crafting 4 last night.
Any advice on how to fill out the templates of my two friends? The obvious tack for the ranger is to suggest MRifle, as well, so we are all damaging the same pool, but maybe there is a better way to go?(She doesn't care for CH, so that's right out). Also, my extra 18 will likely be novice scout and Exploration 1 for just a little terrain negotiation until I eventually unlock some FS trees. We're starting basicly untwinked, too, though I might have a couple of vet rewards to sell if I have to.

Master Brawler and some medic or scout for the rifleman/swordsman. Master Brawler is just a nice thing to have. Intim 2 will help you tank too.
Medic for your Rifleman/Ranger friend.

That does sound along the line of what I was thinking, Master brawler and some Scout. I will suggest that to him next time I talk to him, he can get those three masteries and either add 1000 Scout or xxx4 in Marksman. (A little extra ranged def never hurt, if nothing else)
How about the Ranger? Is there anything in this trio that is really missing? She will likely try out different other things to see what she likes, only MRanger is set in stone, but any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Swords or rifles with the ranger. To compliment you and the rifleman/swordsman. You all could take down major mobs fast. I like the 1000 scout for the rifle/swords, the terrain negotiation will help the kiting.

Thanks all for the advice! It seems I was already thinking pretty much along the right track, but it's nice to have confirmation. ~Bows~

M Swordsman M Rifles is a pretty interesting combo... I was that combo for a while, atlhoughI prefer having M Fencer M Rifle from the ranged point of view...
I recommend everybody have at least novice medic - just for emergencies.
Master Brawler, while not necessary for PvE, will make PvE much simpler (Intimidate 2 is the same dmg reduction as Intimidate 1, but lasts twice as long and sticks easier). Once I move doc to my alt, I'm picking Master Brawler back up for Intimidate 2 for this very reason.
For PvE, Ranger combined with either rifles or 2h swords is excellent. For DWB, having a Pikeman is usually best, but can be done with swords. Swords is a better tank though. Pikeman with ranger should be pretty good too... Pikeman is pretty good for PvE... Swords just tends to be better for other things (ie, nightsister elders).
Hope this helps
