Thread: New to swordsman tips?
Well, I've just created a new Swordsman, and after much slaughter, finally got to Novice Swordsman on Sunday.
I picked Human, so that I could wear full sets of armor, and get exactly the stats I wanted.
Weapons you can use are:
Heavy Axe, 2-H Cleaver, 2-H Curved Sword, Scythe (in with new patch), Vibro Axe and Power Hammer (novice swords)
So far I've only used the Heavy Axe (only novice brawler cert.) the 2-H curved and a Power Hammer, and I love the curved sword best, it looks great (I am a swordsman after all), it does a reasonable amount of damage and it's fast.
The Power Hammer isn't much good at novice, you really need the extra speed and accuracy to make it worth weilding, but it hits hard, so it's probably worth using once you get a bleed shot, to get the extra damage.
As for tips, I can only suggest that you just run around killing anything that moves, getting to Novice swordsman is a little frustrating, but it's well worth it in the end!
I don't really know about support skills, Doctor seems to be The Support Profession of 2004, and indeed, I am adding it to my Swordsman, just because it's different, and once all the Holo-docs, and Min-Maxers move on to another profession, it'll come in handy to be able to self-buff every now and then.
One thing I've learned in my transition from Master Commando to Novice Swordsman is that swordsmen can fire off specials way quicker than commandos (well duh!) and as a result, they kill themselvesmuch quicker. I've had to curb my special usage somewhat, but I'm slowly working out how to kill stuff, it's much more hands-on than some of the other combat professions ![]()
My tips,
I didn't use a power hammer until 0-4-0-2 That gave me the speed tree and accuracy bonus.
Until then I used a fast curved sword.
Also go to Dantooine, level up on quenkers. Then go to pickets.
That's about it, nothing fancy.
some additional comments once you get novice swordsman:
-swords & axes do kinetic damages
-hammers to blast
i'm a master swordsman and i thought the grinding process was quick and painless (6days to master)
some of the things i picked up. there are power hammers out there that are great. i have 2 power hammers in my inventory at all times. 1 hits for dmg max 586, and 1 410 has all +3's on ranged mods. i like my curved sword as well. it hits for max 296. so if i were you get severl different weapons for different situations.
level speed first, then defense, then offense, your combat exp will come with all. although mind hit3, and mind would3 (bleed) are your bread and butter, spin2 helps alot. in the beginning with spin attack, hunt bantha's on tat. feral bantha's give great exp but they are known to DB. after you get up to about mid levels (0422), around there.....start hunting hurrtons on dant. do missions out the but there. ranging from hurrton, howlers, etc. once you get to your upper level swordsman levels( 2443)hit up dathomir and do giant/mutated baz nitch layers until you master. always fight buffed (health and action) as swordsman will suck you dry. and always carry muon gold to stabilize your mind. know your muon gold rate so you can rest during downers. if you haven't mastered brawler find a couple of warcry attachments and add them to a ubese bandolier (no decay on these). warcry allows you 10 seconds or so on creatures in desperate times. once you get mind bleed hit all harder creatures with mind bleed after warcry. then mind hit3 them to death. always watch your hams and enjoy. it's a great profession.
