Thread: Shouldn't swordsman be more than it is now?

As you know swordsman use sword like weapons such as the katana, power hammer, scythe, etc. Shouldn't our skills give us some kind of boost in using a lightsaber? For a lightsaber is nothing more than a lazer "sword".

Maybe it's just me but, wouldn't it be better if our skills in ourprofessions benefited each other such as this example? Or are we to master a profession, just to lose any specialties that that profession gave you to have to start over from scratch if you would like to repeat the profession.

I feel that star wars galaxies is a great game, but there seems to be very little personal permanent development in your character besides you becoming intellectually more proficient in your immersion within this little universe of ours and the "badges" you get from doing random mindless quests.

The devs did a great job with the game putting on a good show for us, but as swordsman and as SWG players we want more. Swordsman in the star wars universe seems quite farfetch'd right now because we are limited to very primitive weapons, but in KOTOR (Knights of the Old Replublic) taking place about 5000 years before episode 1, they had swords that could deflect the lightsaber even. These kind of weapons were powered by vibro generators, and i don't see why we cannot implement them into this game.

For those of us who choose to play this game, not grind it, we feel as if we're not getting enough. Personally, grinding isn't that fun. If you've read this thank you.

If you agree with this just do /sign

Thanks again

the main differance between them is weight. If a Swordsman tried to use a LS he'd overswing and cut himself in half

The only weight a lightsaber has is in it's handle. To put it easier in focus, Think of it as wielding a big laser pointer. Try to swing that laser pointer about in pretend like a sword and see if you do not ONCE cross that beam over any part of yourself. And in KoTOR those swords were powered by a cortosis weave, which after a while the technique became extinct. Unless later on we get the chance to raid ANCIENT weapons from that time period.

what the other ppl said, except remember there is a polearm and 1 handed light saber also, so according to your logic they ought to get boosts to those...

I've been thinking about some..... accumulated skill bonuses for a while, things that crossover, or "veteran" skill bonuses.. this could apply here... say you've been a swordsman for 6 months... you become... accustomed to it, better than newbies.. I think this should be represented by a skill bonus... more counterattack, or better toughness, or better CoB.. something like that, and that inherent skill bonus would carry over no matter what you did once you have it.. like you have become a combat veteran. It doesn't only have to apply to combat skills of course, like a friend of mine who is Armoursmith - he has exactly the same chance of critical fail et al as someone who has done a quick grind to Master AS and is a total newbie.. someone who is a long serving Master at their profession should get more reward for their commitment and their efforts than they do currently.... In my opinion. just my drunken, hen-partied out, 2 creds worth ^_^ I'll have another look in the morning and see if I need to *edit* anything - but for now- /hugs Swordspeople
