Hail fellow swordsmen. I've been looking to change my template a bit and drop my cantina flirt skills in favor of a 2nd melee profession. I am a Master Swordsman right now and was wondering what othercombat profession would go nicely with it. I was personally thinking Fencer at first, since it's quite nice for the defensive bonuses. However, most people I know vouch for TKM.
I'm mostly doing PvE and I'm all lost in melee combat, can't imagine myself picking up a gun at all. I know this has been discussed quite a few times already, but any insights that my fellow swordsmen could give me will be greatly appreciated by this one.

I would vouch for tkm too, mainly due to their healing capabilities, and speed.
Pros:
At master you have capped as a tkm speedwise and can deal out large kin dmg fast.
The meditative line of the TKM is above all questions the best ive seen cure and heal wise.
You get some nice states like KD2, stun and dizzy with it.
Oh yeah and youll be able to stand up to a jedi knight
Fast to grind!, get that spin att 2 up and youll be master quicker than any other prof ive tried.
Cons:
As a master sword you are allready capable of dealing out kinetic damage. Just not as fast imho.
You wont be defence stakker, but I think I do nicely anyhow
My template: Mtka Msw Scout 4-0-4-0 Medic 0-1-3-0, its not complete mind you, as I have the sp to do a lot of the FS, and thereby complete my template with FS Melee Speed +12 and Melee Accuracy +12 and Melee Defence +12 all in all a nice template, and I fair quite well.

Ive been TKM for quite a while.
But right now im also changing my template, i just droped almost all of my merchant skills, (from master), only got Artisan-Business 3 left to be able to sell the stuff i got left at the shop.
Im going for Melee combat only at this template.
----------------------------------------------
Right now im:
TKM
Master Swordsman
Master brawler
Fencer 0102 (i think)
Artisan 0030
----------------------------------------------
It will be like this when im finished:
TKA (not sure on this one, but i will keep meditation 4 and put the skill points i got left in a defense line, most likely 4003 or so.)
Master Fencer
Master Swordsman
Master Brawler
----------------------------------------------
when i got both master fencer & swordsman, i know i wont be using my 220+ damage VK anymore, as im allready not using it much sience i mastered swords.
BUT, the meditation of tka is really good as the speaker above said, its great for healing states and wounds. And at meditation 4 you will also get Force Of Will, which has saved my life many times
I really REALLY! love tkm, but as i wont be using it much for combat at this point, i cant afford using the skill points in it.
So, i will keep meditation andas much defense i can afford.
Master brawler is a good thing to have if youre going for a melee prof, as you get some nice bonus at that point, speed for example, and also, intimidate 2 and more.
Master fencer will give you a nice combat prof but as you allready know great defenses.
With this i get awsome defense and will be able to share a great deal of pain to my enemies.
Dont worry about the speed in swordsman, when u cap master you will have some 2h melee speed bonus, and if you go for master brawler you get more speed, then you should really try to loot or buy some 2h melee speed attachments.
When you cap 2h melee speed you can swing your 800, 900 damage hammer like a woodstick
Until you get enough speed you can allways use a high damage scythe which at this point is a fast weapon, and only pull out the hammer when you feel safe to do so!

Imo the only worthy thing in tka is mediation...my best "pure melee" template for pve was master brawler/swords/pike/tka 4000 and some medic...pike gives u all the things missing as a swordsman...nice area and state-attacks(stun/dizzy/kd) along with dots...last but not least another 2 damage types(energy/electricity)...

This is my current template..
Master Swordsman
Master Brawler
4-0-0-0 TKA
0-4-4-0 Fencer
0-0-4-0 Pikeman
2-0-4-0 Medic
0-0-0-2 Combat Prowless
good stuff.. and if I ever want to get more Force sensitive bonuses I'd just drop the 0-0-4-0 in pike and get 0-0-4-4 in Combat Prowless.

A good template u got there, the only fault i see in it is that you are uncapable of a tactical retreat, as the hills will kill you quick due to no terrain negotiation, especially on dath.
And yup u can use a speeder or swoop, but that doesnt do you any good if its busted up
And the ns r haveing a field day with that
Also as I stated I like the Tkm especially the meditative line, the only reason i havent given it up is due to me getting ganked by jedi more frequently
, and the only thing that can make them run away or die is the Tkm
But if you are not worried about jedi, and are neutral then sure you could do with out tkm and have better defences...

Newb question: Where does speed cap? I got told it's at 100, anyone knows if that is true? Percentage based or point based? Pff been playing this game for over a year and still trying to figure the basics out.

One on this board once directed me to:
http://www.killyourpc.org/swg/swg_dps.php?weapon_min=184&weapon_max=605&weapon_speed=2.1&pc_speed=80&class=Swordsman
here u can see when you are speed capped with your weapon.
