Thread: New to the class and need some help! (Not holo-grinder)

I have decided to give Master Swordsman a try and need some advice on how to approach the profession.. I have been a crafter since release (Master Architect, Master Tailor, Master Artisan) so I have never really messed with a combat profession.


I am starting with Brawler (Which I have not trained yet) so I have 0% experience in this!


I need to know what is the best weapon starting out at brawler that will be going sword and nothing else?


When should I drop the weapon above and get a new one, and what should it be?


What is good to “grind” for xp as a swordsman?


What pitfalls do I need to watch out for?


Is there a good stats template for swordsman?

Find a 2-hand curved sword with a good balance of speed and damage. I still use mine even at master. Once you get to novice swords, get a power hammer. Get two, 1 speed and 1 damage. Get spin attack 2, get good armor, buffs, brandy, etc and go solo rancor lairs. Repeat. Eventually you'll want to add a scythe to your arsenal. If you got the moxy tank and kill the krayt that spawns on the scythe schem for fun!

i just decided to go for master swordsman too... here's how i got to 2414 in about a day (i had an excess of combat xp from doing rifles)


the area south of the theed starport is full of nunas, cappers and gorgs... go there and slice them up to get up to 2 handed 3... for two handed 4 go mash gualamas, tusk cats and kaadus (make sure you are buffed with armor... tusk cats db)... then to get to novice in about 20 minutes go back and spin attack tusk cat lairs and gualama lairs... everything will drop dead around you as long as you spin attack the lair...


for your next 175k to get spin2 you can go to dant and take out quenkers, not the savage kind for they run and have a ranged attack... after spin2 go to dath and take out gaping spider lairs... they have a weak poison but if buffed won't effect you much at all... a gaping spider lair gives you about 70k xp (ungrouped) and take about 5 minutes... piket lairs on dant are also good xp, they seem to go down quickly...


get a good curved sword, power hammer and scythe...


I went to dath with a friend to help him get CH xp... we were taking on rancors... i took out about 12 of them before the mind disease from the bull wore me down and i died... he got a ton of xp and so did I... and i'm only 2414.... swordsman is great!

As far as good stats (I assume you were referring to stat migration), max out Mind/Focus/Willpower.
Then you can really do whatever else you want with the rest, but I prefer maxing out all the secondaries (Strength, Constitution, Quickness, Stamina) before Health and Action - just as long as this doesn't leave you sitting with 400 in the two primaries.
