Thread: How many of you master Swordsman pvpers have doc as well?

After much agonizing over the way I play and what I want to do, I finally figured out the final template I want for my swordsman: Master Sword, Fencer 4-4-4-x, Master Brawler, Medic 3-3-x-x, Scout 4-x-x-x. In other words: a swordsman with great defense mods, who can intimidate and knockdown in pvp and also be fast enough to catch up to ranged types when they kite me, and can heal for nice amounts with stim B's.

Recently though, a few of the better pvpers on my server dropped some of their skills for doctor, saying that they were sick of getting poisoned and diseased every 5 minutes.

I'm pretty sick of that too (cms on my server are everywhere) and it got me thinking, so I took a look at a template that incorporates some doc. That is: Master Sword, Master Medic, Doc 4-x-4-x, Fencer 3-4-x-x. And I hate it Yeah I can cure posions, diseases and states (and it would be nice not to get owned by cms), but I'm slow as hell, don't have knockdown, and lose most of my nice fencer defense mods and the CoB bonus I get from brawler. And yeah, dropping master sword is just not an option.

So... of all you hardcore swordsman pvpers, how many of you are using that doc 4-x-4-x and giving up your defense, and how many of you are skipping the doc, picking up the nice defense mods and taking your chances getting blackbarred on base raids by some **edit** chucking area poo? Because I feel like it's a choice between getting destroyed by cms and getting destroyed by everyone else.

Thanks for any input. Love to hear what other swordsmen think.

Unless you PvP often on a large hill 4-x-x-x Scout isn't necessary. Truly it is an inconvenience to fight PvE while on a hill, but if you're more PvP oriented I say give up scouting and re-allocate the 29 points elsewhere.

speaking from my experience on bloodfin almost EVERY good PvP template needs doc skills or cm skills. Being able to KD and dizzy is not much of an asset to PvP these days if you are as far along as we are, nowadys everyone has KD resistant foods. I would say that doc or cm skills are much more of a nasesity because you can outlast your opponet as long as your mind dosn't get worn doen too far

I agree Sanjin, Doc/Swordsman is a great combo, and as much as I want to grab a few more professions towards the FS slot, I'm awfully attached to this. I tried to push myself into Fencer by spending over a million credits for an Acklay bone for a stun baton (is vera nice), and it's currently sitting in my safety deposit box...

Thanks for all the replies guys. So none of you doc types find you're getting kited by riflemen and beat by fencers and pistoleers with better defense mods?

Hmm.

I agree that knockdown isn't such a must for pvp with the foods now, but intimidate is sure nice. Hurts to give up brawler

I used to be Doc/Tkm and PvP was ok. But doc really drops you SO many points that could be used for combat. As far as being "tired" of being dieased and poisoned. Pick up tk 4-x-x-x for the meditate, and as well you'll have power boost (adds 1/2 of your mind bar to mind, health, action) which is pretty bad ass!! And as well, you should consider doing only medic x-x-4-x so that you can use the Stim's which are a lot more powerful that the A's/B's you would be using atm.

and even doing tk 4-x-x-4 you'll get a bunch of melee defense/ranged defense

and the kiting was the one thing that really got to me. As you can see in my sig. I choose to pick up Rifles. Probably for the sole purpose of being able to hit mind from afar, and up close. As well, the ranged mitigation really helps too.

True, I could do the meditate line... but it's not like I can stop in the middle of a raid to meditate. If somebody poisons me and I let it go for two or three ticks, I'm pretty much black barred.

I guess what I'll probably do is get 44xx fencer (I'm already master sword/ brawler) and pvp with that a couple of weeks. If it's no fun due to getting poisoned I'll drop the brawler and my scout, keep the fencer and do the stupid doc

Thanks all for letting me think out loud, since I can't decide on this damn template...

I went Master Doc/Master Swords for the sole purpose of taking out GDKs on Lok but now I realize that I can take most anything in the game alone. I killed a Nightsister Elder in a short amount of time the other day all on my lonesome. I can buff, heal my wounds, get rid of disease, stun, blind.. whatever gets thrown my way as well as kick butt. If you want to tank, go swords/doc.
