Swordsman Archive

I play a wookie and for the last 4-5 months I have been a master rifleman/master doc. This has caused me many many problems in areas like the geo caves, DWB and corvette as the melee damage I take has been pretty unbearable. With the launch of the new wookie armour and the purchase of some nice PSG's I thought I could finally take up swordsman, something i'd been longing to do for a while (to compliment rifleman but dropping doctor).

Well, I currently rank as a 0313 (lots of combat xp from rifleman) and along with a few guildies took to the geo caves on Sunday. I started tentatively, letting the more established melee characters hit first then jumping in afterwards. About 10 mins in a found myself taking a wrong turn and was quickly surrounded by 2 of those enhanced kliknics and a couple of spiders. HELP!!! but wait.... somethings weird..... i'm not dying.... in fact in not taking much damage at all. For the first time I got to feel what it was like. With my new 80% kinetic wookie armour, a half decent buff, some brandy and my shiny new scythe I had finally become a tank. Wow, did I feel good.

About 30 mins later our group of 5 (including me) had got down to the heart of the cave and there she was, the acklay. Holding no fear I ran in and proceded to tank that mean muther while the rest of the group lay waste to her (and my own damage output wasn't too shabby either). From the moment she first attacked to the moment she died, I was the sole tank and boy did that feel good.

Another 40 mins later and sitting outside the cave I felt, for possibly the first time since i've been playing, battle hardened, a bit scarred and an important part of the team. While I have always been able to dish the damage with my rifles, I never got that feeling of really getting my hands dirty, always relying on others to save my butt from melee attacks. Now it's different.

So from this wookie amateur wielder, I salute you swordsman and look forward to joining the ranks of the elite in the near future.

as happy as Raw sounds in this post, is about how I felt last night when some NS's killed me twice. Yeah it sucked taking decay but I havent had that much fun in a long time! I was actuallylaughing and enjoying what was happening to me from the 7 protectors(never again but it was fun) 5* for raw!

This is the start to the melee addiction for you I suspect. It happened to me nearly 8 months ago. I had a similar experience, and had to eventually drop all my ranged skills and go 100% melee since I just didn't like ranged anymore compared to melee..........have fun with it!!
