Swordsman Archive

So last year this new and supposedly incredible game called Star Wars: Galaxies hit the store shelf. I like most every other SW fan run out and buy it to experience the universe we have all come to know and love.

I immediately decided that I wanted to be a doctor, so I proceeded to master the doctor profession. I played around with Pistoleer and a few other base professions when I saw a Creature Handler running around with a Rancor and I was like, "YEP! I'm going to be a CH!" Well, come late october/early november of 2003 I decided I was done with the game, it just wasn't what I had wanted or expected. Now, in June of 2004 I find myself once again emersed in the SW universe.

Almost everyday you can find me running around with my co-worker on his (at the time) MTKA / MCH doing either missions or killing stuff in caves or looking to find trouble anywhere it was available. However, I was constantly bored. Pet attack this, Pet follow me, pet attack that. And with buffs! I didn't have to heal anymore, well, I had to heal the pets on occasion, but that seemed like somewhat of a waste of a good stimpak. I was constantly jealous of the damage and melee ability of my friends MTKA. So, what do I do? I think I want to drop CH and get some fighting powers, I'll go swordsman.

So I start. Buff myself up, get a decent sword, and start the grind. Well, now I'm a Master Swordsman and couldn't be happier. I get to get dirty with the rest of the tanks and I feel as if i'm actually contributing to the fight. While working on the exp grind I couldn't believe how good it felt to be able to use spin attack and destroy 5 mokk/jantas in no time flat. I couldn't believe the melee power of the class. This is just what I had been looking for the whole time.

Just a few days ago 5 of us from my guild (including the MTKA, who is a Master Swordsman now also) went to hunt the new and improved Nightsisters. After aboutan houror so of fighting we pull a NS Elder and we all jump in the fray. Well, we get respawn sooner than we think and the other guys peel off the Elder to deal with the new threat and I'm alone on the elder holding down the fort. Now, i'm the smallest bothan you could imagine, and all decked out in my composite armor and my power hammer blasting away at this NS Elder was quite the sight. I solo tanked the NS Elder for a good ten minutes while my guild mates dealt with the respawn and a second respawn before they could jump back in and help me on the Elder.

After the fight was over and the hunt was done I actually felt like my character was useful, instead of standing in the back, running in for a heal or directing my pet which target to attack. It was great. I'm glad to be a swordsman and proud of it. My many thanks to those other Master Swordsmans on Naritus for the advice on the way. Well, thats the story, hope you enjoyed it.
