Thread: Another Template Question I'm a newb Swordsman

My big question is:
Is there a cap to the bonus I can receive to my skills such as melee defense/KD defense/melee accuracy/etc...?
Because I've thought about taking TKA and Fencer skills to accent my Swordsman skills (namely TKA 4404, Fencer 2220) - but I'm not sure if I should, because I'm unsure of the existence of a skill bonus cap. Any help would be quite appreciated.

Not sure of all the numbers, just a remembering from so many posts read :
-Melee and ranged defenses are capped at 125.
-Speed at 100.
-Defenses like KD etc..at 90.
I would appreciate to be corrected and completed.

AFAIK these caps are correct...

If u stick with Master AS than u have not enough SP to do this...IMO itsa decision of being a crafter or a fighter....a good fighting template depends on doing PvE or PvP...
A good blanced Swordsman template could be like this:
- Master Brawler - Gives u+5 2h-Spd. ; +5 2h-Accuracy ;+5 2h-Toughness ; Intimidate2(Sticks easier and last longer) ; Lunge2(20m rnaged KD for Swordsman)
- Master Sword - After the last Patch NPC uses there specials again...so soloing an ns elder will be much harder but still its possibile...any "animales" like dune kimo etc. are afaik not effected...
- Fencer 0-4-4-0 - For stacking defense. U gain good def vs. stun/dizzy/blind/kd and some more melee migration
- TKA 3-3-0-4 - For some more defense and the ability to mediate. U can cure disease/poison/bleeds while mediate and have powerboost....
- Scout 1-0-0-0 - U will love terrain negotiation while hunting and have the ability to gather ressources...If u wanne harvest large amount of ressources pick up a droid with some nice boni for harvest. mine has +105...

- Novice Medic - IMO a must have for any fighter template. The ability to use stims "b" safed some times my own or the life of a friend in game...
For stictly PvP may use m-brawler/sword/fencer 0-4-4-0/tka 2-3-0-4/pike 0-0-4-0 and novice med...u have some insane defense-stats and the abilty to use some badass dot-weapons(knifes, pikes etc.).

A good allround template u have in mind, but without the xx4x line TKA is frankly pointless as an offensive profession - if ur gonna go TK and not do Power Techs, just do 4xx4 - Meditation (Inc Powerboost and Force of Will) and decent Melee/ranged defence.. then save ur skillpoints for either some fencer (4xxx for more melee/ranged defence or whichever Fencer line gives the state-defences - your choice). Like the wookie said tho, it really depends on whether ur gonna go PvE mostly or PvP - Melee & Ranged defence are good for PvP, Counterattack and state defenses are better for PvE..
Oh and afaik once u get to master swordsman u will have melee mitigation 3 so getting it again on another profession will do nothing for u
Looks like the Speed/defence caps are correct to my knowledge - Counterattack caps at 125 too, as with block/dodge.

meep! forgot to say - whether you're going PvE or PvP Master Brawler is great
get it if u can spare the skillpoints... or even if u cant

IMO First Tree up to "2" will be enough...I never used force of will...when it has success u will stand with 6HAM-Points on your feet...One hit and back on the ground...Powerboost and the ability to cure bleeds/poison/disease are imo the big winners in this tree...so another 5 points safed for some defense-skills/mods...

each to his or her own - FoW has saved me from various nasty deaths in it's time - usually u stand back up free from aggro and with full HAMs again - Free from aggro for just long enough to collect your thoughts and either begin fighting again or /burst to a safe location to re-assess your tactics 
I've looked at a couple of stacker templates and have been able to have a Swordsgirl template with Max Melee/Ranged Defence which includes 4xx4 TK and SP to spare for medic 2200.. so i guess it's not what you've got but how u use it that counts

Woot...Than there was a swift...i last read the sticky thread at the TKA-Forum and may got it wrong...When u go back from incap with fully HAM thats a great winner! Will test it myself asap...thx for the information...

You don't need the full TKA x4xx tree you only need a max of TKA x3xx the last one being pretty much uesless unless you want knockdown2.
I prefer TKA 4314 to compliment my MasterSwords... having all the state attacks (especially dizzy and knkcdown) is extrmely useful in PVP and the TKA 43x4 part of the tree compliment Master swords beutifully in PVE.
I miss not being abale to have medic... but then some things you just have to bite the bullet and accept in that line the meditative tree is a MUST have wihout medic. Certaily made my life a lot easier.

My plan is to go mostly PvE, at least until PvP becomes enjoyable (no offense to PvPers, but what from I've seen its way too much buff this med that eat this drink that composite woot no skill involved). The TKA 4404 and Fencer 0220 were for the various bonuses involved in getting those skills. To add on, i'm keeping pistol that I already have (I just mastered marksman, before I decided I wanted to go melee), and taking the spice tree in smuggler (so I can have something to make money on other than missions....do spices sell well?).
My main goal is to run loot missions for my guild, but I'm at a crossroads as towhich skills to take in order to best serve that purpose. Should I go Master Armorsmith (right now I'm AS 1000) and Master Swordsman, which would leave me with 66 skill points after those two are complete. I was going to add in Artisan 4(2)00 for the tailoring basics, but I'm not sure I need it. There's also the option of taking TKA or Fencer with MS and MAS. 14 points for unarmed/one handed plus 6 points novice and one or two trees. So with 250 sp I could take MS, MAS, a secondary elite melee prof, and a couple more artisan skills. I like the thought of being MAS, and I've got 200k fiberplast and 100k metal already gathered for the grind, too!
Hell, I dunno what to do. So many choices.This is why I love the SWG profession system!
