Hi,

I recently master CH and was going up the Pistoleer tree, but Pistoleer was not satisfying. Before getting infected w/ the CH bug, I was doing some rifle and swordsman and got to admit, the swordsman bit was cool.

the question is this: I'd generally prefer to do CH/Swordsman,but i'm concerned about surviving in the thick of it. A guildie of mine is a polearm guy and gets beaten down on a fairly regular basis. Do Swordsman have the 'toughness' to survival a big furball w/ multiple mobs and pets? or do they constantly need medic lovin'?

Let me know your opinions. Thanks very much for the assistance!

If you are also a Master CH, go swordsman. I am doing something very similar with my primary character and I like it alot. Granted, Khael is no master CH, he's only 2/2/1/1 in the CH tree, but my GW tanks for me and I can pummel most mobs under 10k and hardly take a scratch of damage. The key is to stay as far away from the creature in question as possible and still be able to attack. I've found that range to be between 5 and 7 m depending on how big it is. Pikets seem to be random because they're so large, but against normal sized mobs, stay 5m away, warcry, intimidate, mind bleed, berzerk and watch them fall.

I don't know much about rifles. I've only dabbled with them once, but they just weren't my thing. Heavy Swordsmen do a ton of damage. If you have a big beastie to tank for you (at least for now) go ahead and let it take the hits and beat the snot out of whatever you're fighting.

I am a Novice Creature Handler. I am a Novice Rifleman. But above all, I am a Novice Swordsman.

Although hitting a beasty with my T21 while my Greater Sludge Panther keeps him busy is fine, I find that taking him out up-close-and-personal is much more satisfying from a "fun" standpoint. With most beasties that don't swarm, they will only be concerned with your pet and won't do much damage to you anyway (Pikets are an exeption, but still fun!). Fighting along with my pet just makes it seem like I'm in the game more, and I don't really take that much more damage (although I am a Wookie, so I'm pretty tough). I spend much more time healing my pet than I do healing myself.

So from someone who has both, I'd say to go Swordsman--especially since you already have Pistol (you really need one melee and one ranged to be effective in this game). God bless!

Why bother with melee if you're CH? Just go rifleman and stay out of danger. If you're already melee, just pick up master brawler and some good ubese. You'll be your own tank.
