A few questions from a new Swordsman...Please help.

Now, I got Novice Swordsman, and Mind Hit 1 yesterday, andI love the profession already, but I have a few questions.

1.) I have heard of the Swordsman Dizzy/KD, but I don't know which attack it is. Which is it?

2.) Which tree would be more useful to go up first? Offense, Defense, or Techniques?

3.) Is the Power Hammer a better choice to use than the 2h Curved Sword? (I am normally buffed.)

I'll think of more questions as they come up.

mind hit is the best attack that swordsmen have. i started to work up techniques first. once i got mind hit 2 i went for offense line. area attack works well for large ammounts of xp. i am 2 boxes from master and did most if it with picket missions on dant. i am also a master doc so i was buffed and took lots of food and drinks on my missions. i would run to a lair and area attack it... the lair would spawn the 5-6 pickets.. in a matter of seconds they would drop. any more questions just send me a pm.

1. /melee2harea3 and /melee2hhit3 both have a chance to cause Dizzy, with area3 having the additional benefit of a posture down with the dizzy. For Dizzy to achieve a knockdown, the target has to do a posture change, but from my experience, it has to be a voluntary posture change. So you can get a dizzy on them, forcea posture down change, but unless they try to stand back up or go to prone (assuming you took them to kneeling), you will not get a knockdown. They have to change posture themselves to get it to work. Of course,/melee2hlunge2 from Master Brawler can do a knockdown. If you get them dizzy using one of the above two attacks then knock them down with lunge2, the dizzy will help keep them down when they try to get up. But dizzy is not an automatic knockdown by any means.

2. It seems to be pretty universally accepted at the moment to go up Techniques first. I followed that advise, and it worked well for me.

3. "Better" is a relative term. Hammer advantages are higher damage and Blast Damage type. Disadvantages are that it is slower, has high Health costs, and has the worst accuracy. 2H Curved Sword advantages are faster speed, lower HAM costs, and Kinetic damage type, but it does lower damage and wide damage range (meaning it will feel the effects of damage mitigation more).

Thus, the answer to which is best is, "It depends." I use the Hammer quite a bit. But I have to manage my HAM costs more carefully with the Hammer, and I have to put up with more misses even at Master. I just like the high, consistent damage it can do. However, against something that is resistant to blast but vulnerable to kinetic, the sword is a better choice. The sword is also faster and more accurate, so sometimes you can just kill things more quickly because, even though you are doing less damage per hit, you are getting them in and getting them in more quickly.

Especially as you are leveling, your best bet is to get your bleeds in with the Hammer (higer damage means higher bleeds), then switch to the 2H Curved Sword or Cleaver to finsh them off because of their faster speeds and higher accuracy. Even after Master, this is not a bad strategy.

Swordsman don't get a dizzy/KD.

A Swordsman is given a KD at master brawler and that's the only one given.

So you must apply a dizzy then a KD. There isn't a single attack that does this.

/disagree

I Mastered Brawler to give me the 2H Lunge 2 (MY Best Move) - This is a Knockdown move and works 75% of the time for me. After hitting Warcry 2 and Intimidate 2 - I hit Lunge 2 then spam 2H Head Hit3 which takes most anything out in seconds.

Techniques is a great Idea to start - Try to find a good Power Hammer with a lower Ham cost...but speed is the best for most combat situations.

Going to Master Doctor after this

Good Luck and Welcome to the Solo Club

I must say...

...as much as I use Warcry/Intimidate and want a KD, I may drop Master Doc for Master Brawler once I finish Swordsman.

lol. You can't /disagree with a FACT.

Swordsman does not have a dizzy/KD.

It does have a KD at master brawler in the form of Lunge2, and it does have a chance of Dizzy attached to Hit3 and Area3, as Atimes has already said.

Two totally seperate attacks.

I guess your technically right...I was trying to refer to the fact Swordsman Has a KD - if you have Master Brawler then you do have a 1 handed Dizzy attack and you would have to switch weapons to do the swordsman KD

I stand corrected
