I got novice swordsmen last night!! I have to say it was very easy. I seem to level faster when i don't pay attention. I have been going out to endor and killing stuff for the current Herb meat with a few friends. It's been a lot of fun!

What is a good weapon to use at novice? I find my curved sword, tho it doesnt do as much damage as my power hammer, its speed seems to make it a better weapon (2.0 vs. 5.3 tho the 5.3 isnt sliced).

The 2H Curved Sword is much faster and more accurate than the PH. Until you get the speed and accuracy bonuses from the upper levels of the profession. So while its damage will be less, you will hit faster and more often with the 2H Curved. Also consider the Cleaver. It has higher damage and, if I recall, better accuracy.

Of course, that assumes that the target does not have high kinetic resists and low blast resists. If that is the case, go with the PH.

Once you get the the Scythe cert, you can also use the Scythe. But due to the expense, many people use the Scythe for PvP only.

Even so, pull out the PH everyonce in a while while you are grinding and compare how you are doing with it compared to your main grinding weapon. Once you feel like you are hitting fast enough and accurate enough with it, switch to it if you can kill things faster. After all, that is the real test, isn't it?

Depends on your point of view. I used PH and Scythe through my grind not because it was faster, but because it was more fun—sure, took me 5 days instead of the 2 it might have had I done it the "optimal" way…but I had a blast doing it, and I'm still having a hell of a time swinging the good ol' PH, despite having a rediculously nice scythe at my disposal. Love my PH. Love it!

I actually used a speed sliced cleaver for most of my grind. Average damage comes out to about the same as a curved, and I really detest using the hammer, since I picked up swordsman to use swords Hammer obviously has its uses in many occasions, though.

I seem to be in the minority here—I actually decided to go MHS because of the hammer. Maybe it's 'cause I (used to) do medieval reenactment IRL and I fight with a giant mace…something about MHS and the PH in specific speaks to me.

Grats on Novice Starphire!

Swing by Morbus shop, he has a ton of Hammer that are only -4 ranges, and a good amount of curved swords and cleavers the last time I was there. Once you get to x/x/x/3 Either run the Scythe Quest, or buy one, comes in handy. I have been grinding in Solo groups on Dantooine hunting janta in my composite. The blood is starting a small pile in the house Cant wait to use that for some 950+ packs..(wrong forum ) Morbus usually has what you need, and decent prices ( you probably shop there, but if not, check him out) He is ouside coronet a bit, on the map. Good luck with it!

CM's are like nukes. You have them just incase you need them, but as soon as you start using yours the other guys start using theirs and everything goes to hell
