putting crafted geonosian reinforcement cores in hammers? is it worth it with yellow cubes and solidifying agents? does it result in any increase in speed?

Yes, I have. Even base yellows and agents can result in slightly better damage than base acklay and about .6 or .7 less speed as well as better range mods. If you don't have a good acklay hammer, a good geo hammer is the next best thing.
