Thread: how is swordsmen any better than pikeman for high end pve ?

hi , i recently became swordsmen and frankly i am loveing it . its a great feeling knowing that you can solo virtually any mob in the game . however i would like to know why swordsmen is considered the ultimate pve looting profession . with the rampant nighsister hunting taking place it is very easy to acquire a 500+ damage polearms with speeds that are half of powerhammers . both weapons are ap- 2 . i haven't played a pikeman but they have a targeted ham special and aoe attacks as well so how come they arent better in high end pve .
apart from nighsister elders i cant think of any other mob in which a swordsmen would outpreform a pikeman . furthermore the rarity of sworsmen speed tapes coupled with the slow base speed of swordsmen weapons result in the fact that only 5 to 10 % of swordsmen can actually use a damage sliced powerhammer at the speed cap . since i am a relatively new swordsmen and i have never played a pikeman i am hopeing someone can explain to me why a swordsmen is considered a better pve profession . thanks any input would be greatly appreciated .

I could be wrong not being a pikeman but pikeman weapons are either kinetic or electric damage. Now most tough mobs have very high resists to those damage types making pikeman fairly weak in pve whereas a swordsman has the powerhammer with blast damage that almost every tough mob has low resistance to.

- Swordsman's second damage type has AP2 (pikeman's is only AP1)
- Swordsman's Hit3 has a 4x damage multiplier, pikeman's only has a 3x.
- Swordsman's HeadHit3 has a 3.5x multiplier, pikeman's LegHit3 has a 3x.
- Swordsmenhave higher toughness (43 compared to 26, without master brawler)
- Counterattack is better than block
Maybe some other stuff as well...

Maybe some other stuff as well...
Another thing is that until master pikeman you'll miss more than you'll hit. Even at master things don't get that much better.

Honestly a GOOD master pikeman with good weapons can probably do better then a Swordsman against a lot of things. The key is the blast damage and kinetic damage both with good ap for the swordsman. In places like the DWB a pikeman has a total advantage over a swordsman though.
