I'm a Master Swordsman and trying to decide whether to add Master Pike or TK. Will innate armor provide more defense than high end armor that you wear? Note that Master Pike and Master TK give you the same amount of ranged and melee defense, I believe, but Pike seems to give you some cool offensive attacks that you don't get with TK. Any thoughts?

I've found the TKM armor to be far superior to the battle armor I get. But TKM abilities are fairly lukewarm, compared to MPike, except for Improved CoB. That, combined with armor, makes you a tank.
Basically, do TKM if you want the tanking, and Pike if you want the control (as it says).
What are the other profs you're adding?
I'm looking at MSwords/TKM/Pike 4430 (I think) as my template, so best of both worlds.

Thanks for your comments. With the feedback that I'm getting, I'm thinking to combine Master TKA with Master Swd, instead of adding Master Pike to Master swd. I'm also thinking of dropping Master Brawler and dropping the fencer line in the brawler tree to pick up the pikeman specials.
So I am also thinking along your the same lines as you - MSwords/TKM + whatever Pike skills I can get in order to obtain the good pike specials.
I am assuming that a ubese armor shirt will still allow use of innate armor. Has anyone verified this?

Iwear an ubese armor shirt and i probably am getting the defense bonus, havent thought of taking it off to check if i get better defenses, but so far I have been doing well as a tank. Also, does anyone know if cybernetic limbs affect tka innate armor?

i am a wookiee and didnt have enough points to get my desired template, so i respec'd to master TKA and am almost done grinding out swords. i also have a cybernetic arm and it does not negate the innate armor in any way. i find that TKM is very helpful in tanking but if you want to deal some damage it is not the thing to have. i will also drop master brawler to get the pikeman specials.

Thats the first time I'd seen the cloning arm. No wonder they had the crappy art in - its a punishment!
If you like cybernetics, get RoTW, those look neat and they offer bonuses

I went Master Swordwoman/Master Pikewoman/Master Brawler/TK 4100/Fencer-FS skills.
With good defence clothes, Attachments, and defence food I can reach 350+ melee and ranged defence. Unsure these high numbers really help after a certain point.
After CU (and after the conversion ruined all my weapons), I am testing combat with a 900+ VL and 900+ powerhammer.
I have seen powerhammers at 1100 damage, so why would we choose any other sword for combat? I hope the Sith sword is not weak!
I am still testing armor with my template. My GOOD set was ruined by SOE in the conversion.
I would suggest TK 4100 if your not going 100% MTK, this gives Power Boost and Improved COB.
My main attacks with this template are: Improved Intimadte, Advanced Armor Break, Blind attack, Stun attack, Bleed attack, and Improved Impale.
Master Brawler is a must if you like the defensive stance/return damage move.
Action bar goes fast...get Action regeneration food!
Good luck...its all a learning curve, head hurts...

Thanks for your thoughts Seita. That's a good template. I agree that if you don't go for Master TKA then getting TK 4100 is good.
Still not sure whether to go master pike or master tka though. On the one hand, right now innate armor is better than crafted armor, but down the road who knows. Maybe there will be armor that can be made from looted components that armorsmiths will eventually learn how to make that will be better than innate armor. Also, with armor, I can plug in a lot of armor attachments, which I have a lot of. I have no clothing attachments. On the other hand, with innate armor, I can use the cybernetic components. Also, maybe improved intimidate is really better than regular intimidate, not sure.

Down the road is very true. Thats why this CU and short respec test time is really lame. You can't honestly test to see what will really be best for your game fun when so many things are buggy right now. Innate armor with the ability to use cybernetics does sound very tempting. I guess I will roll the dice and keep my template in hopes that melee will be good down the road.
Master Pike is great for crowd control, but if the entire crowd is all ranged with root & snare, our melee job doesn't stand up to its name.
Also, get some stim d's. I just started using some that are 1241 power. They will help in the long run as long as your not mobbed to death!

Let me through one more variable into the equation re going master pike or tka. OK, lets assume tka innate armor + COB is better than any armor now available, even the new clone armor that has like 5600 across the board. BUT, will innate armor + COB + intimidate, give you betterdefenses than clone armor + COB + improved intimidate(master pikeman)? Any thoughts?
