I just changed over to swordsman from commando, and this was a problem in beta but can anyone share with me their knowledge on the subject? I'm quite annoyed with pausing every 6 seconds as I try to run someone down. I don't care if I dodge the shot, I'd rather get hit and keep persuing my target because we can never catch anything and lunge seems to only have a 6m range now. Does anyone know if we're going to get any help at all with this?

Please add your experiences to this tread.

Things you might know about it from beta...when it exatly seems to occur....etc.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure this is a bug. It's because your character changes between normal stance and combat stance. It happens with Rifles and Carbines too. If you watch you'll see your guy stop and then take on a combat stance. The reason this is cheap is because Pistoleers don't have this problem. Either it should be made to affect them as well, or it needs to be fixed on everyone else.

Well i hate this..its just blatently stupid to be stopped inbetween being hit or trying to be hit..especially when im running away from a tusken chief who just happens to have spawned on the hills i hunt on and the dang npc and his groopies can keep shotting preventing me from going very far

I seem to have thestopping problem when npcs are shooting my player up; it's like he stops to take a bullet or something. Sometimes it's bad enough that I equip a pistol, just so I can escape a group of shooting mobs without stopping everyfew seconds

Last night I was running from some Baz Nitches (wasn't everyone?)

At one point I had either 3 or 4 hitting me and I literally could not move. It was making me do the "stop" issue about2 times per second so that I couldn't get moving. Even if they miss me it still has me do this little animation, and the act of doing the animation seems to prevent me from running.

I believe the animation is of going into combat stance, which happens if you aren't in a combat stance already, so basically everytime something engages you in combat while you're running, you stop, go into combat stance and can then resume running.

Really, really aggravating.

Ugh. I'll chime in and say that Ihate the pausing. In my experience, it occurs not only when you get hit, but whenever anything even *attempts* to hit you. I pause every time a ranged combatant misses me, or when I dodge the shot, etc. This is plainly ridiculous, and I've been /bugging it since Beta 3. It would be nice to see it addressed.

I can see someone making the case for pausing in the event that you are actually hit and take damage (after all, you've just been hit with a blaster; you probably should at least stumble a bit). However, I think they should remove the pausing entirely (or at the very least reduce its duration). It makes running to or from a ranged combatant who is sufficiently far away nearly impossible, if they're firing fast enough. It can completely negate the effectiveness of Burst Run.

For example,a few days ago I drew fire from an aggressive NPC who attacked me fromalmost maximum range. He was far too tough for me to take on, so I turned on Burst Run and ran away from him. He forced me to pause with every shot, and was able to make up all the ground I gained between pauses by the time I could move again, firing at me all the while. In short, I couldn't get out of range, despite using Burst Run and being nearly out of range to start with. This doesn't seem reasonable to me.

I haven'tbeen in many PvP fights, but I can only imagine that pausing is even more frustrating in a PvP context.

dont get rid of this bug, its the only reason i can solo desert squills with the help of about 6 stormtroopers standing around outside of Mos Espa

In all seriousness, It need to be fixed, I saw a really good explaination of the exact details of the bug somewhere, and have forgotten where I saw it, and the exact reason, I think it has to do with getting aggroed on.

I notice i pause when i get shot at; whether the shot hits me or not, i pause during each shot, like the server/my computer has to stop and think before i move any more. I will be pulling a mob and run him away from his friends and then run up to him. Well, it takes me a hella long time to get to him cause im constantly stopping when he fires.

I also SOMETIMES pause when changing weapons. I will use a ranged weapon to pull then switch to my sword and pause (and not getting shot at).

big ole bump!

I agree fix this mess. It gives a swordsman no way to run against high(er) level mobs / PvP.

I might try the pistol switching thing, but that is such a hack.Sometimes when I leave my sword on I actually manage to run a bit and seperate one from the group and get one final kill in before I die. I agree I think once you start the battle, you might as well hang in and kill them or go down trying. Even bursting does nothing with the pausing.

I forgot who mentioned it, but it happens just from having an NPC or creature go aggro on you. I've had Desert Demons (the wimpy melee kind) go aggro on me and I pause while running. They don't shoot me or anything, just start running at me with their staff. That really pisses me off.

ya and it happens whenever you begin your attack. Ok not as deadly or gameplay hampering (but related), but still annoying to be running at something, press attack, and stop, vogue, strike a pose, then continue running up to it to attack. I'd like to be able to just run up and start swingin.

This is an issue. If I try and take something on and the whole nest comes after me and I get overwhelmed and try and run I usually die because of the stopping. It gets annoying. I think other's ahve hit on some other ponits so I'll just leave mine at this. Thanks.
