Hi you all,
So, you might notice that we do not really have an up to date "Top 5". With combat balance looming over us, I felt that it wasn't going to be that productive to get a current top 5 (as everything could well be changing anyway).
However as time drags on and the balance gets pushed back I've begun to reconsider that choice. I can't help but think that it would be good just to get a current top 5 to head into the combat rebalance with. That way when asked, "is this a top issue?", I can say, "Yup, it's #3." I suspect that a lot of issues haven't changed although we'll see some new contenders sneaking onto the list (like bleeds).
So start things off I just want to brainstorm concerns. I'm going to write up some of the things I've noticed players are really concerned with and I ask for comments on these and additions. Once we have that I can create a big list of issues and we can vote as to which of those seem most important.
Sound good?
To help me do this please try to format your replies as succinctly as possible. List your suggestions for changes or additions to the list FIRST and then provide any discussion you want.

Here's my list so far:
- Bleeds are no longer effective enough.
- There is not enough variation in our specials. We need more specials that do more things. (Note: dev answer to the old Top 5 indicates that this will be helped in the combat rebalance)
- HAM costs are too high. (although we already know that the combat rebalance will revamp HAM usage)
- For "heavy" combatants we have far too much difficulty penetrating armor.
- Difficulties obtaining Scythe schematics.
- Lack of specific role/utility in combat.
- Damage mitigation penalizes Swordsmen greatly.

Another one:
- Lacking damage types (only kinetic and blast)

Oops, yep. I had my brain on the "stun" conversation earlier.

Slight typo I'd assume
Lack of weapons in general is one of my issues. They scythe looks cool, but its not a great alternative to the Powerhammer. I'd like something that looks cool and strikes fear into our enemies.

Lacking damage types is a problem for ALL brawler types not just swordsman. I'd like to see each brawler type have one more damage type added.

the list you came up with seems to cover pretty much everything i can think of, as it covers
- weakness in bleeds
- variation in our attacks/utility in combat (i see this as one issue as utility can be made up for in attacks and skills)
- our being "heavy" combatants, and the problem with piercing armor (namely heavy ap as a possiblility, just to be blunt
) - our hindrance by the damage mitigation
- and weapons, with various damage types.
so your list covers all the pressing issues, and such that i have noticed, and seen mentioned.

i agree with all but the damage types... realistically the only reason we would need a different dmg type would be pvp, and that is not a good enough reason to make us any more Uber in pve than we already are, just my 2cents.

ok, I'm kind of new to swordsman, How does damage mitigation hurt us more than any other class?

i think the spin line should be taken out and turned into a critical strike line, or stun line.
critical strike being a frenzied state where we can hit for more dmg more often.
or a special which stuns and bleeds - something nasty.
at any rate the spin line is too redundant and worthless.
the scythe should be easier and cold IMO.
special costs are a bit high for our spd.
i think we need a bit more defense to dizzy/kd since this doesn't make us harder to hit but keeps us from being gimped on the ground.
we do need stronger bleeds and some sort of built in profession KD.

mitigation hurts weapons with high ranges of dmg like say the powerhammer 100ish to 500ish.
it limits the amount of dmg these weapons do per strike.
the scythe is a big help and one of its best points since it has a tight ranged of dmg
