One thing I've noticed is that people focus on the hammer too much. The majority of hammers I see on vendors, in terms of DPS, are crap compared to a decent curved sword...especially from a grinding standpoint.

Nice DPS calculator.

I'll have to look into that statement, but the PH is a higher end tool that is used to bash NS skulls in with specials. not sure a curved sword will match it - especially with its AP.

I did the calc a while back...for those of you that just want an answer.

master sword - 75 speed

longest special delay - 2.5 sec

weapon speed - 5.3

need 18 more points to speed cap

if you're master brawler you need 5 less.

this assumes a 5.3 PH that has a damage slice. 5.3 is pretty standard, 5.4 is common but why settle. the best speed slice i've seen (regularly) on a PH brings the speed to 3.7. at 3.7 you only need 14 more speed to cap.

...and unless my spreadsheet is off - you don't even cap with a 2.0 speed weapon, you need 2h speed +5 tape to do that, or Master Brawler, but you may have mentioned that.

I had some 38/38 -1.32 Geo Reinforcement Cores that I made PH's out of. Needless to say, the thought of a 4.4 467max(pre slice) hammer with -10 to ideal is appealing. I may just have to drop Pikeman for awhile and give Swordsman a whirl.

To clarify, I use a PH, it was just that finding a decent one was a bit of a chore.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Acklay weapons due to the speed loss and horrible accuracy associated with them. Doesn't matter alot with Fencer weapons, but it's hell for Swordsman.
