I'm currently a TKM/MD/Artisan 0/0/0/1. I need to open a merchant so I'll have to start dropping TK boxes and so I'm thinking about dropping it all together in favor of Swordsman for something different and a damage type other than kinetic. I'm lookin to go MD/Artisan 0/0/3/0 and something in Swordsman (86 points available). My question to you all is, Where do you recommend I put my points? Is it worth going Swordsman if I can't master it? I do not PvP.
I was thinking MD/Artisan 0/0/3/0 and Swordsman 4/4/2/4.
Thanks in advanced!

the speed is what you play and pay for in swordman, so you miss out on some not being master. aside from that i functioned rather well and gave up master fencer to become master swordman after going through the same exact debate as you.
i think i was told to bag the offensive line though - "the area attacks aren't great, the spin attacks better." plus you get the counterattack line.
i will say this though - i have most of a defense stacker template. you are going to give up a lot of melee defense. I don't know what it's like to not have it. you may have a little shock not having it and not being as fast as TKM

Since u have not the points to complete any combat prof imo it doesn´t realy matter if u stick with swords, pike or may rifle...with your limited combat-skillsafaik u won´t be able to kill the heavy mobs like krayts or elders but doing well with the mobs up to 10-20k HAM...

Swordsman is probably the second most master friendly combat profession in the game, second only to rifleman (and perhaps pikeman, but I can't say I've ever really played that for more than a day or so). Swordsman is very slow, and skipping out on the master level speed is not a very good decision. However, it can be argued that if you really wanted to go all out, you could purchase seas and get the FS line to make up for this. The offense line is not that great, as stated before. There's a few useful mods in it, but by and large it's the least useful line.
If you were able to cap speed on a damage sliced scythe and got through the tech, defense, and finesse lines, you would be just as good as a non-speed capped master in most cases. Heck, if you were able to get +25 2h speed through seas and +12 through fs skills, you'd probably cap with PHs too (although I don't know the exact +speed mod at master - so long as you're over 95 as the end result then you'll cap). So basically, if you're either EXTREMELY wealthy or willing to be a second rate swordsman, it's not a bad idea to dabble. Otherwise, I'd say go ahead and master.

Thanks everyone for your concise/pointed answers. Since I don't want to open an ALT account to handle my merchant needs I am stuck (as stated above) not being able to master a combat profession. Based on everyone's comments I'll probably Master Swordsman, and once I have all the stuff I want to sell created, I'll slowly drop the boxes you all have recommended. Thanks again.....
