Thread: Janta Hunter Template

Right now I am a Master Swordsman and Master Doctor, and today while staring at sparks fly out of a rock while I wacked some Jantas, I thought to myself, "Can't I do this more quickly?". So now, I come to you all, and see if this can be done. I am more than willing to ditch doctor in order to get some skills that will quicken the process, but at the moment I don't really see any skills that would do that (I thought of skills that added to my melee defenses, but this wouldn't really speed things up for me). As far as I can see, I just need to inflict more damage at a faster rate.

Any thoughts or suggestions? I'd appreciate it.

As a Master Doc/Master Swordsman myelf, Jantas are one of my main sources of income and loot. There are very few professions that can take down a Janta Shamanlair as fast as Master Swordsman, so I don't see the problem. Target the lair and spam 2hSpin2, 30 seconds later, you're done.

fencer can take em down faster than swordsman for some reason

i think its cause their skills get better multipliers cause their weaposnhave lower stats

and swordsman have armor piercing, which doesnt effect lairs in terms of damage dealt

The reason he's not taking them down that fast is he's using a hammer. Go to a scythe or an acklay 2h curved. Also, master brawler will give you an extra +5 to speed. Master Doc is overkill. If you need more than medic 4003, you should be taken out and shot.

Master Doctor overkill ? I think not. I can drop jantas extremly fast and im not capped for speed. believe Doctor is a great profession to have with swordsman

How much skill do you need to heal yourself?

I'm not capped for speed either. At least not with my hammer.

My template is actually quite jacked right now. It's all geared toward making money, not toward accomplishing anything. I'm master brawler/master sword/smuggler 0100/medic 1000/scout 0010 or something quite close to that. I have all the healing power that I need. I can harvest meat and hides for sale. And I can slice terminals on dant in an improved job market for 50k per mission. I can rip through a mission in less than a minute. I can earn around 1mil credits an hour. I can still solo elders, juvie krayts, canyon krayts, and acklay. Hell, I can even solo an SBD - not that I'll have any armor left when I'm done. (sidenote: all my soloing is done with 72% ubese except for the sbd. I use 90% comp on that)

Now, If I can solo all that stuff - the same stuff that you can - and have skillpoints left over to help make more money, how is doctor not overkill? I see one benefit from being a doctor. I wouldn't have to stand in buff lines. That actually has the potential to help me make even more cash. The speed with which I can go thru a lair makes my time in buff lines very valuable.

Now, before everyone takes huge offense to my statements here, let me point these things out. This is an rpg. If you want to rp a doctor, I think that's great. This game needs more ppl rp'ing their professions. Also, my char sucks for pvp. I can hold my own for a while if I have my uber comp on, but the armor is the only reason. This thread started out about pve though. I truly believe that from a pve perspective, the only thing a doc is good for is buffing and the occasional rez in the DWB. From a perspective of trying to solo large mobs, doctor skills aren't very valuable.

Your statements are 100% correct. If he doens't PVP, then it's overkill, if he pvp's then curing states/diseases/poisons/fire is a must

I am finishing up master brawler, master fencer, master swordsman... medic 4,0,0,0... not sure why I would want doc, unless I pvp a lot, or enjoy hours full of buffing. Stim B's do me fine when I am buffed, and I don't mind paying 15k twice a day for buffs. But, its up to you.

Oh, and for some reason, my gaffi takes down the lairs a LOT faster than any sword I have. I think it has to do with armor piercing. Tis all I can think of.

Master doc useless?

Its only useless if you have the time to sit and wait in a line for buffs =P.

Run around, killing janta missions for a week, sell what ever loot you get that can be sold, and you can afford enough buff packs to last you 2 months. Start buffing yourself for 2600 per stat anytime you want it. Get diseased by some mob, cure it. Beat down to your last 200hp, full healed(or near it). Master Doc is far from useless.

However, it does limit your template. A master doc/master swordsman does not PvP as effectively as other combinations of professions. However they will make damn good PvEers.

PadiOne, your build looks pretty stellar in my eyes. Slicing terminals for Janta missions on Dant is the way to go, and when you can't find a doctor to buff you, just go after some mid-range creatures and sell your harvests. I can hold up pretty good in PvP when fighting other melee class characters, and I don't even really ever use my cure state skills either. Even so, I'm not interested in PvP, at least until they nerf solo groups or start working on the combat revamp. I'll probably work towards those smuggler skills in a few days, since making an extra 20k per mission would be far more valuable than being able to take a lair out slightly faster. Thanks for the advice all.
