Counterattack is a defensive mod that affects your ability to counter an attack with an unblockable attack of your own.
Counter-attack works quite well, and I'd say I get a CA about 1 out of 8 hits against me (that's with base Counterattack mods of a Master HS)
Throw in some SEAs and even better, Master Carbineer, and you'll be a killing machine. Of course, Publish 7 may cap Counterattack. :/
NOTE If you see any SEAs with "Two Handed Melee Counterattack", do not buy them (or use them). This is an old beta skill mod that is no longer used by the combat system.

CoB with master swordsman and master carbineer thrown in makes for a very very difficult target to hit right now.Playing myrifleman last night, a swordsman/carbineer counter-attacked 8 straight shots before I was able to stun him and eventually take him down... after he'd taken down two of my group mates.

Center of Being is how you focus on defense. Even after the nerf to only have +125 counterattack, you will still take no damage from around 60% of the shots that hit you as long as you have Master Brawler level center of being.
BTW, I think stun only stops ranged/melee defense. Intimdate stops counterattack/dodge. Look one of my screens. The Rifleman used flushing shot to stun me in the beginning of the fight but I still counterattacked most of his shots.

How do you focus on defense??? Is that the center of being?
