Thread: Dilemma of choices

I've come to a bit of a crossroads. I took up Swordsman on an alternate character for a change of pace from my Master Bounty Hunter, and at first I was thinking of mastering Rifleman along with Swordsman to forge some sort of balance between range and melee skills. Currently I'm 4/4/4/4 Brawler, 4/0/0/4 TKA, 4/1/2/3 Swordsman, and 4/0/0/4 Marksman, and was looking to go Master Swordsman/Master Rifleman/4004 TKA with 18 skill points left over (hadn't decided what to do with them yet). However, I was wondering if there was a need to be balanced with ranged skills. Is it possible for someone to have all melee skills and be successful (not invincible) in both PvE and PvP? As an alternative to my original goal I pondered being Master Swordsman/Master Brawler/4004 TKA/Master Fencer (not sure if the skill points quite allow for this but it would be very close). I was just wondering if anybody who's tried something like this or that has any insight at all into this could provide some pros, cons, or suggestions. Thanks in advance.
Master Rifleman/Master Sworsdman/Master Brawler with Medic 0 1 0 0 is what I did. I find the combination to be very balanced. Some people find all melee workable; however, I cannot be kited, and I can kite if I have to. A pure melee character can be kited, and cannot kite someone and do any damage to them beyond 20m.At the same time, I have the skills to deal with people when up close or from afar.Though not ubber by any means, I do great in PvE, and I do quite weill in PvP.
Whether you go the TK route, which many do, or the Master Brawler route as I and others have, you will probably be happy with the result. And as far as the 18 points go, put them into Medic if you can. The ability to heal yourself in the middle of a fight is well worth the the points.
