Tried out an Elder... and after a half hour of whittling down her mind, she starts looking to move, so I warcry to slow her down, but she just warps to where she wants to go instead. But I had planned for that and positioned myself so she would go where there were no spawns. So I chase her down and start beating her head more, and she slowly moves another direction and then warps 90m away again. So I chase her down, ignoring some of the other aggro mobs that are now chasing me. After a few more whacks, she warps back to her original spawn point, where her nightsister sisters are waiting, as well as a new elder spawn. So, determined that I can take that last sliver off her mind and loot before I die, I charge at her, but I just cannot seem to get her down! And so her friends jump me, end of story. I /waypoint her near-dead body but by the time I get back from the cloner, she's despawned. So..my first elder attempt takes 30min and I couldn't put her down because of her warping skills.
So, how the heck do you manage that when they won't stand still for 5 seconds when near death? Eventually she will run into an area you can't follow without risking immediate death(this is Dathomir, after all). I must have taken 4k off of her mind once she started running, but it still wasn't enough.

Ah taunt...for some reason in the heat of battle Iwas thinking it was warcry to get them to stop running.... thanks for reminding me.

best way to stop her in her tracks is to /taunt her. hit it a few times and when it sticks she turns and comes back at you. do this everytime she tries to run.
next thing is to try and lunge her and hope it knocks her down or finishes her off.
hope this helps.

Yeppers, Taunt is your best bet - i set up a macro button that clears the combat queue and then taunts, so i canbreak off headhitting as soon as she starts running
Lunge1 and Lunge2 spam too, kneel or KD are as good for stopping her

In addition to /taunt I also put them on /follow early in the fight. That way if one of your /taunts doesn't stick you will automatically follow her for the little bit that she does run until a /taunt does stick. Between /taunt and /follow nothing gets far

if you cant solo an elder in 20minutes or less i would suggest bringing a rifleman or swordsman along

Don't follow this suggestion. Solo them if you want and take as long as you want. I find it no fun to bring a band of people with me (much less just one) to help out. If your bring other Swordsmen or Riflemen with you than it's not nearly as tough nor fun.
I play the game to get challenged and one-on-one with an Elder is where the challenge is at right now.
