I had that kind of problem when I bought my Cleaver. There was some bug where I would do unarmed damage with it. I had this giant cleaver in my hand expecting to knock off over 1000 easily and I do something like -49. So I shut it off, came back to it a few hours later and it worked fine. Not sure if thats the case with you, but it sounds similar to what happened to me.

Heh, I get -38 with my Vibro Axe. I don't understand weapon stats well yet besides the Damage/Speed/HAM costs. How can I tell if the weapon is accurate or the range modefier things? I don't understand what those numbers mean yet. Can someone fill me in so I don't drop more hard earned duckets on another crap weapon? Thanks.

"Point blank" is the wrong term. If you mean 'unarmed melee range' under three feet then you do suffer a penalty.

From beta, in testing melee weapons (I was a master weaponsmith), we found that the 'sweet spot' was a function of the distance from 0 range to the sweet spot. in other words... if you sweet spot was 3 meters (two handed swords), then the sweet spot was 1m or less wide (3m - 4m). It's very hard to stay in that range while fighting melee - and of course impossible against an unarmed opponent who will close to hth range.

It appears that weapons with longer ideal ranges have bigger sweet spots. i.e. a tusken rifle that has a 60m ideal range appears to have a 10m wide sweet spot where the ideal range bonus applies.

For you to get your ideal range bonus, you need to be a little further away than you think you should be with 2h swords. Not hth range, but about double that distance.

The range modifiers on the 2h weapons appear to be false, btw. Many melee weapons show positive modifiers in all ranges, but then when you move out of the ideal range they show negative modifiers. I suspect the display is wrong in the weapon for some reason.
