I am curious about people who consider theirselves tanks in swordsman field. I am curious can people in the swordsman field hang on their own in places like LOk and so forth like the pistoleers and rifleman. im currently going of into the third lvl of brawler of heavy sword, seems kind of slow going but my worries are the amount of damaged sustained especially with the higher lvl monsters. Feed back would be great, thanks for the help

IMHO Swordsman is a solo class, you cant really get 2handed exp in groups, try meleeing somthing that hits for 250 and does posture change (fambaa). Its stupid, best bet is just to solo whatever you find...I'm using a terrible weapon...but still hit over 1k. Solo is fairly easy, get a ranged weapon like a rifle, use that to bring in the mob, then take it down. If you need money, do destroy missions...Easiest money I've ever made.

Hope it helps

I tend to disagree Agramor,

I try to group as much as possible, and do quite well. I tank alongside a freinds CH pet (full growndewback), heal myself while fighting with stim b's and with the help of others. And was taking down mountain dewbacks with help from the ranged chars in the group. On every kill I was getting over 1k xp and over 100 combat xp.

Now i have a question for you guys........is your xp while in a group directly related to the amount of damage you deal to the creature your group kills?

I ask this because all the ranged chars said they were only getting 200-300 to my 1000?

Or is xp calculated differently for ranged and melee chars?

If you want quick cash, do destroy missions in anchorhead.

If you looking for xp join a hunting party, or group with a freind and go solo some lesser creatures, as they will be harder to kill.

You get an xp bonus for being in a group, and killing creatures solo.

XP is proportional to the amount of damage you do.

Yeah it depends on the damage you do, I was in a group of 20 with only one other melee fighter a TK. And I was getting 4k xp and the gunners were pulling under 1k xp. This from rancors.

Tanking is imho that the mob is prevented from attacking weaker group members. So, I'd say in emergency its is possible with sweep, but it eats pretty much HAM and the lower posture is only really reliable on humanoids. Better leave it to the Pistoleers and Bounty Hunters (sure it sounds stupid).

I consider myself as melee damage dealer. If a single mob comes, i use beserk and start whacking. When multiple mobs come, I figure out how close they stand to each others. If theyre close enough i start using spin attack. I often ended up getting 7.5k exp from one pull that gave our 9 men group in a fight of 20 seconds.

I've been getting phenomenal amounts of xp on Dantooine. I'm a swordsman/ NOVICE creature handler. I emphasize novice because I only have one pet and he isn't uber like a Rancor. He has 4500 ham.

Anyway, I've been soloing with my pet and hunting Huurtons (doglike creatures). There are many different types but basically you go after the regular aggro Huurtons and Huurton Matrons. I'm not very far up the swordsman tree ( I have novice and Int defense), with my pet grouped the Huurtons con white and the Matron Huurtons con yellow. They are encountered in packs...so the packs you look for have one Huurton (aggro con white), one matron huurton (non aggro con yellow) and a bunch of pups and a few babies. You will often even find lone Huurtons with just a pup with them which makes for easy xp.

I use my pet to tank and get the attention of the Huurton and Huurton Matron. Then I run and take them out. I'm averaging about 3000-3500 swordsman xp, 300-400 combat xp, and 400-650 creature handler xp....per encounter.

It may not be the best method in the galaxy, but it's working for me. Huurtons are everywhere on Dantooine so you won't be running around wasting time searching for them. If you don't have a pet you can group with one other person and probably have similar success. Key is to avoid the fights you can't win. Some Huurton packs have Huurton Huntresses and Huurton Stalkers, which con red to me, so I avoid these packs.

Anyway, this is just a method I've practiced and like. I'm sure there's better ones but I like this one for a couple reasons. 1) I can do them by myself 2) Lots of xp for quick easy fights.
