Thread: Just came back and wondering how Swordsman has fared...

Yes I'm one of those losers that quit back in February and have now expended the other MMORPG choices and have now decided to give the game another try.

I was a master swordsman before abandoning it on the fruitless holocron path, which is what led to my cancellation. Now that I'm back I was wondering how swordsman fared in all of the patches and updates that have come down the pipe. I enjoyed being a swordsman immensely though PVP was aggravating and am interested in once again picking up my hammer and killing a few beasts, but don't want to waste my time if it has been nerfed to the point of insurmountable aggravation.

Any imput on good swordsman builds would be greatly appreciated.

I perused the boards and found my curiousity piqued by the new scythe (well new to me) and am looking forward to trying it out.

First of all.....the scythe rocks! Secondly, we are still arguably the best prof in PvE. There is very little that we can't solo. That being said, swordsman is pretty pathetic in PvP. We can be decent at it with the right template and skill tapes, but in general the swordsman in not a good PvP prof. The template I like with swordsman is this:

master brawler

master swords

master fencer

TKA 4300

novice medic

This is a great all melee combo for both PvP and PvE. Very nice defenses, 3 damage types, and viable PvE and PvP profs.

Just some thoughts......hope they helped

That looks similar to what I abandoned on my holocron quest, glad to see it is still viable, also looks fun to play. Pets were getting pretty screwed over when I left...does having no pet in that build hamper you or do armor and good defenses offset things enough that it is a non issue?

I've always preferred melee to ranged, even though ranged is typically superior in these games...melee tends to be more fun.

I didnt play Swordsman back then, so I cant compare to that. I think it rocks now and its the most powerful of the melee professions for pve.

My template is

master brawler

master swords

master fencer

TKA 4003

novice medic

Ive soloed anything Ive come across so far.. Except the very few mobs that have 100% resist to both kinetic and blast dmg

I fear something terrible has happened.

Wow they've really buffed food since I quit...thanks.

Looks like the optimal damage ticket is:

MSwords

MFencer

MBrawler

with TKA 4300 or 4003 and novice medic...

Thanks for all the suggestions and help and its nice to see food supplementing the doc buffs I'm used to...

Glad to see Swords has not been nerfed to the same degree BH was....since I have always preferred melee over range.

Hiya and welcome back.

I'm not fully sure what was already around and what wasn't around the time you left, but you might

want to check out this :

...and did you notice any change to the "inside life" of big starports like Coronet for example ? (might be server related)

Happy wielding
