im a noob to the profession and im reading all this talk about waiting to use the PH until youve practically mastered the profession and im wondering why.......As far as i know most of the other if not all of the other professions begin using their elite weapon as soon as they get the certification so why is the PH so different?

I guess it's good in one way...youll save money buying a PH but it just bums me out that according to many people its not a smart idea to use the weapon until your practically a master swordsmen!!

The reason from my understanding and experience is a fairly simple one. Power Hammers have high -ve to accuracy which make them miss quite often. While they have a large damage output, it is not much use if you never hit. With your accuracy modifiers from the Finess range and Master you become much more accurate. Along with the Techniques line for the additional speed, your hammer will be hitting your, by now, maxed speed 2H Curved sword and so making this the prefered weapon.

This kind of makes sence since only a Master should be able to effectively use their 'professions' weapon?

I started using it when i was battlermaster with 2 skills in accurancy so 0-4-0-2 , this time u have some nice speed and some nice accurancy. if u planing to use it ealier try to get powerups for range accurancy modifier.

i used once i got certification for it. even though the curved sword was technically the prefered weapon, i never used it. i went from the heavy axe, to the vibro axe, to the powerhammer. but each character is different. but i would suggest that use the powerhammer once you get either half way up, or the whole techniques tree.
