Thread: Encumbrance reduction for melee's

Hear is an idea! Since melee's are supposed to be the tanks of the game why not give them some kind of incentive to wear armor. Like maybe a 5% reduction to encumbrance at novice and then go all the way up to 50% reduction in encumbrance when you hit master Swordsman, Fencer, Pikeman or TKA (maybe less for TKA since their toughness is so high).

Melee classes should wear armor. But right now in the game most of them do not due to the fact that armor is too encumbering and using specials with armor on is a death wish. Also most melee cant even wear a full suit of good armor due to the fact they put most their stats in their HAM pools.

Here is a ruff draft of how it shoud go

Novice Brawler - 5% reduction in encumbance of armor

Master Brawler- 10% (for a total of 15%)

after training in that many weapon styles one would think you develop a little agility and strength

Novice Swordsman/Fencer/Pikeman/TKA - 5% (so 10% for normal 20% if your master brawler)

Each skill box of defense -5% (for a total of 20% here, now 40% if you have master brawler, 30% otherwise)

Master Swordsman/Fencer/Pikeman/TKA - 10%

(so at master you get 40% reduction to encumbrance when wearing armor, if you also have master brawler then you will have a 50% reduction to encumbrance.)

What do you guys think about this idea? any comments or other suggestions are apreciated.

IMO: Give Wookiees a LOT more stat points...

Wookies need improved regen, and more toughness. It states that in their description that they have high regen and they should have their own natural toughness and resist. But the fact they cant wear armor is known from creation so i dont think allowing them to wear armor would be fair. This idea is justmaking the use of armor more appealing tothose species that already have the ability, its not really giving them something new.

Well they could cap it at a max value of 50% encumbrance reduction.

About Wookies, they are not at any greater disadvantage then they were before.

Improved Regen is not going to cut it. The problem I see with it is that weaps will continue to get stronger as will armor and armor seems to protect on a percentage basis. With armor at 70%, a weapon that does 1000 damage is 700 and 1400if it does 2000 damage.Wookiees arefixed at one number. So if you give them 500 stat pool points eventully they will be underprotected again. The same is the case with regen which really in a pvp battle don't help much anyway. Armor seems a better solution to the problem as it can move with the power of weapons and armor..

The 700 and 1400 are meant to be the protection that armor provides. Of course you must also take into account armor piercing and the 75% damage reduction in PVP.

thats a pretty good idea but i know they wont give us a total of 50% reduction, and if you master both tka and swordsman and master bralwer you will have a 90% reduction. lol that would be sweet but very unfair, although i think its a good idea
