Swordsman Archive

I'm a master doctor and, in general, spend the bulk of my time gathering resources and selling pharmaceuticals. However, I'm also a carbineer for the times when I want a break from the grind of crafting and get out into the wild.

However, I've been a carbineer for quite some time and was thinking about changing to a melee class. I've been considering becominga swordsman, but I know little to nothing about the profession, so I thought I'd ask here.

With the other skills I want to have, I have only 25 skill points left to spend on swordsman (after I've picked up Novice Swordsman, that is). Is it possible to have a formidable swordsman with only that number of skill points to spend? Keep in mind that I very rarely get involved in any sort of PvP combat - I almost exclusively hunt creatures alone or with a few friends. Is it possible to have a decent swordsman and, if so, what would I spend my points on?
