How do you guys feel about the 2.5x damage bonus you guys get for fighting a commando? Fair? Unfair? Overall does it add balance in your opinion?

I almost incapacitated a bounty hunter with his lightning cannon in one hit when duelling earlier today.

I wasn't even aware of the change when I agreed to duel him (and I'm assuming neither was he, heh).

I think it's pretty fair, as these extremely powerful weapons should have high risk when used. And as far as the flamethrower goes it still has a 15m range which would stillallow a commando to get his shot off on a charging melee type if spotted soon enough. So it's not a guarenteed win on either side's part anymore.

So far I agree Shimond. I went to anchorhead today and I was simply asking for friendly test duel to see how it works. But since I can switch to my launcher and still fight without the penalty...I seem to have it figured out so that I dont die too often. Although when I was one shotted by a master pikeman he screamed...."finally a commando can loose" I laughed, knowing commandos already loose but now he can at least compete.

As a swordsman fighting other commandos I think that the 2.5x damage penalty is good for me. As a Commando fighting others I think it is a bit odd that while the flamethrower's specs and specials encourage close range fighting, the penalty discourages it. I would like melee professions to do the most damage in melee range, but the main job of a Commando, like Swordsman and Pikeman, is to dish out big amounts of damage.

Yeah, I ran into Anchorhead on a suicide run, my unforunate victim was a Commando...Warcry, Intimidate, Head Hit 3 for 1200, dead. Of course, then his buddy shot me in the eye until I died.

Maybe it's intended as a rock paper scissors type situation...Commandos are the best at taking out ranged, ranged are the best at taking out melee, melee are the best at taking out Commandos...?

Heh not too shabby for a Commando. I never managed to get that much damage in pvp with headhit3, but I did do 900 mind damage on a prone BH and that killed him in a hit.

Uh, I think my power hammer's max damage is 561, sliced. A headhit3 in PvP for 1200 is not unreasonable if the opponent has a heavy weapon out.

Man, am I out of it. When did we get this ability and where would I find out about more such topics?

I didn't know (haven't read about anything like that in any of the recent notes, if its true, it must have been an undercover change) about it, but I am ALL, and by that I mean 150%, for it. BH's and commando's, a while back, clearly needed some more kick to make them worthwhile. What they got was a kick, 3 jabs and an uppercut, receiving weapons that can have in the upper 900 max damage. Now its time they pay the price for wielding those weapons. The x2.5 or whatever new modifier that is now in place for heavy weapons was very much needed and it should be harsher if you ask me. How much manoeuverability can a guy toting a heavy-duty flame-thrower have?

I have 2 characters on Bria. The second one is a commando CH that is going to have some Smuggler skills mixed in. All I can say is that they are messing up things because of making everything occur equally for PVP and PVE.

As a commando I applaud the change in PVP. Melee should have that boost. However, in PVE it really stinks. We get hit so hard by any animal it is kinda ridiculas. I can however live with it as I have a pet to tank for me. Plus I can switch to pistol and take out the mob depending on the circumstances.

Seriously, how is anyone supposed to play this game? The rules change every two weeks, nothing works as intended and none of it isdocumented beyond 4 words buried 6 pages deep into the patch notes.
